long time ago when mine were little!they seem to lose child hood quicker these days seeiin some 8 yr olds worrying about there apearance with piercings[sometimes babys!!!] labelled clothes an silly gelled spikey hair [along with trendy dad]spose its fun but dont seem right somehow they should be building gang huts an mending bikes an playing war games on the common[if there is one that aint bin built on,instead of trailin around town with mum[always stressed!] an dad!buyin mobile phones, dvd's,cd's an games to lay in front of the box with![what happened to the family drive or picnic in the country?]guess my just William an Dennis the menace[complete with catapult!] days are over an its a wonderful new world for these little trendy have it all's,guess i'm just a grumpy ole codger now! not criticising you nut cos dont know you or yours, jus from what i see!

I completely agree woth you TM. When my baby is here she can have her ears pierced when she is old enough to make her own decision (even though I have many piercings myself) and I dont believe in sitting them or us parents in front of the tv all day either! We have so many plans to take her places that are very inexpensive or free and spend time doing family things together! Watching a film every now and then will be great too but I was so happy as a child playing with art and craft stuff, going out and getting dirty and having fun. No all parents are the stereotype you mention but I do agree I see it alot too. Most people I know do alot with their children including from what I have seen of alot of teh parents on here keeping their kids busy and happy having fun! I cant wait. Rain or shine we will be out and about. After all I have to now with thedog so no difference when Willow arrives! Dont do label clothing either. Asda are bloody good for baby clothes!!!!!!

its just i dont envy the parents havin to put up with nagging from thier little uns to have everything that thier friends have got ,it was always the case even with mine!but it seems to start a lot earlier now!when i was about 8 it was no good naggin my parents cos i knew i wouldnt get it,an if i threw a sulk i got hit for having 'a insolent look!'would i have been a better person for gettin everything asked for? i used to have issues regardin parental violence but the memories fade an realise it was jus there way!they did what they was thought right then!now when i am in the 'family'pub an the little blighters are runnin aroun my feet! an mum an dad are to timid to enforce discipline,or jus dont care!but funny enough some of the kids are quite sweet an not frightened to even talk to me an come out with some funny stuff!thats when mum an dad get really worried an cart them of!!!

Had a great day yesterday, with BC and Hayley and Holly coming for a visit, we'll have to make it a longer stay next time, the time goes by all too quick!! Seeing my old friend Tracy for the first time in ages and enjoying the company of my very special fella with my two best friends was just BRILL!!

Totally agree with B1200G! My three girls are now aged 12 and 8 and I have brought them up the old fashioned way...no smacks though...I have spent so much time with them...Nothing would have been able to take its place...even now, my girls although a bit more worldly wise than I was, are still polite and know how to behave...and if they do not they soon get sorted! My girls have some material things but only a few...one present at Christmas and birthdays...they are not spoiled materially...they are spoiled with love and attention...thats all children want! Had a lovely time with Flame and DB up at Flames....thanks for being human sat navs! LOL! Thank you Martin for all your support...means a lot to me especially now the bloomin great Eagle has landed with a bump and twisted her ankle! pmsl! Managed to drive home...goodness knows how! At least this time the Eagle landed safely! LOL! All is quiet, the girls are tired and are watching a dvd...bliss xxx

Being 76 and forgetful is bad enough but trying to make a cake after drinking half a pint of Baileys on an empty stomach and having a conversation on the phone all at the same time. Then realising I had put the unbaked cake in the fridge to cook, heaven knows where I put the marg, checked the oven and its not in there. Now got to stay up to silly O'clock for the cake to cook which no doubt will take longer after being in the fridge. Oh yeah and thinking I would be clever and use the count down timer on my mobile phone to time the cooking time only for the battery on the phone to go flat, never thought to check on the actual clock what time I put the cake in. Suppose I will have to rely on what my grandad used to say, when its brown it done, when its black it buggered. BRB got to check if its done or buggered
