Hope Charlie is on the mend Jen, it's never easy especially when you have other children to look after at the same time.

Last night I was working on the last bus to Accrington, and I gave the benefit of the doubt to a bunch (8 or so) of youths that they were half fare. (sometimes its easier than to argue the point) and they repaid me by puking up all over the back of the bus and not even telling me when they got off. When i pulled up along side and asked them why didnt they say something, they just laughed and told me to f off. Thing is 1. if I didnt carry them i would be in trouble for leaving kids with no transport home and could lose my job. 2. if i insisted on charging them full fare, even though they didnt have a pass, their parents could complain and i would end up in a disciplinary 3. if i tried to insist on full fare, they can get abusive both physically and verbally, and i cant do anything about it .... see above 4. if an inspector got on the bus and they didnt have their passes then i would be in a disciplinary for breaking the rules. 5. no.4 is highly unlikely as there is no inspector working at that time of night so you have no management backup whilst out on the road what so ever I feel like i am to blame for everything working at my company, when it isnt my fault and it is definately theirs or their parents. Bring in a curfew like they have in parts of France! frikking kids. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

You should put them in a cattle trailer towed behind the bus if they are going to behave like animals!! (easier to hose down too..) Sorry to hear about your troubles, Fraglette. I spent a couple of years designing bus cabs and anti-vandal protection for drivers and couldn't believe the stories I was being told. A tough job.....
