Noticed not many bees flying in and out of the hive this evening so got all kitted up and opened it up. Too much damp must have got in the hive as it was virtually empty of bees and the frames all black and mouldy. Gutted as I was so looking forward to this year's honey.
It's going to take a while (and some expense) to get it all cleaned up and sorted ready to start up again

The chickens are hardly laying either due to the crappy weather and the combined rain and slugs have ruined most of the veggies down the allotment

Thanks, Jen, it will take time to make sure the whole hive is properly cleaned out before I can get a new colony so probably will wait until next year as it's tricky getting a new colony through the winter, although I did manage it my first year, but the hive was new and clean then.

This rain is really putting a dampener () on things in general

My mate called round and offered me a lift to the "jam" night I said "no thanks, I'll take the bike out for a spin and see you there" Gets there, to find it all in "full swing" Complete with ...... BEER FESTIVAL If I'd known I'd have gone in the car and sampled some "real ale" Also sad to read HRC's post about her bees and crops

So sorry to hear about your bees HRC. Toast made with your home made bread and honey from your hive was one of the culinary highlights of my year...but you will get it all going again. You did so well & you will again. Such are the challenges of rural life HRC gather all the slugs on your allotment in a bucket then take em back to your girls and shout party time! That should get em clucking and buk buk-ing in no time

It seems misery likes company and all too many of us seem to be having a bad time,
HRC if u can get to a library u can log on there. I had to for a while. Ur description of the green mile scene fits perfectly with the feeling of too much hurt.
I too look at all the happy posts to cheer me up. Its starting to work and chat sessions have had me laughing again which is something I cherish at the moment, So thanks all for that.
The sad story of the bees is one i hear alot. people who have kept bees for years tell me they have lost all of them this year. I keep an area of my garden wild and get bees in that area tunneling underground. I like this natural area with wood piles etc to help nature. Its my little sanctuary. Hugs all.

emzed The lift with your mate sounded the best option. HRC Ang sorry about the bees, natural honey is one of my favorites. I will settle for home made jam Vanessa things will come right in the end. I find sleep a good cure hurtz, I don't know what you are going through but keep strong, you will get through this and wonder what it was all about Your little sanctuary sounds wonderful. my balcony just doesn't do it for me. I did actually come on here to post something, but in light of ever one else's problems it was nothing I can't deal with

David,
ah, No one problem is bigger or more important than another. This isn't just about sadness, hun, Its sad or unhappy and supporting each other is something that makes me feel like my day has been worth while. I like that side of my personality to come out. That too can make us happy.
Feel free to share. Hugs in advance. x

My ongoing battle with life continues at one step forward and two back so encamped here for a while longer .

Seems its that way for a few here so to those that need it and even to those that don't

Hurtz sounds like I need to pop back into the chat room for a while then ( soon as I get my head out of this paperwork ) but good to hear you're starting to feel like smiling a little again x

sad because one of my best members of staff as well as being a true friend left the company today... happy because she has found a job to suit her family life better and will not have to catch a train back and to work each day. Going to miss that girl.x
