IT MAKES ME SOOO ANGRY!!!! Why is it when a bloke wants to buy a bike aswell as having a car, its put down to "boys and their toys" But when I want to buy a bike all of a sudden I am an irresponsible single mum, who should be using the money for the house or kids!!! My bike hunting has suddenly turned into a bloody nightmare.......I guess I'm not allowed to have a life!!!!

difficult one!some will see it as irresponsible taking unnecesary risks,an jus thinking of yourself!!i didnt ride bikes while the kids were young myself but that was my choice, look at the female mountanier who left her family to die on some godforsaken foreign rock!!but people have died jus walking on Dartmoor!! but its your life an your choices you could walk out tomorrow an get knocked down by a bus!an a few mothers have been killed round here goin to school or work in there cars! like i say difficult one this!!

Scary your dammed if you do and dammed if you do not, when i was with my X i got her a bike and we loved it but then when the kids was big enough they wanted to ride with us so we got all the gear for them and took them with us and we too have the odd the peep tell how bad parents we where, but this is the odd thing I have never crashed my bike with the kids on or by my self I think it makes me a bit more careful, but have been hit 3 times by cars (sorry mate I did not see you) 2 with kids in , but i still ride i think there is only so much you can do to be safe your self and like tangoman said we could all be killed by a bus and to be honest there in not a nice way to be killed

someone said to me why you wanna ride a bike for at your age!!this person goes skiing[at my age] an couldnt get the fact that its a buzz all the time not just once or twice a flippin yr ,plus its a fast way of gettin from a an b without being frustrated[bad for the heart] by queues of blasted traffic!!

If it were just the safety eliment of it I could probably argue the case, as the people that are giving me grief also sponsor me to jump out of aeroplanes on a regular basis. But the argument I can't seem to win is that as I have a car they see a bike as being an unneccessary expenditure. Granted to fund this venture I am having to cut back and also sell my drums but its not impossible, I don't think however I will win the argument and I'm afraid these people can make my life very difficult if we fall out.

Ride and be damned, Scary! Cassie's right. As for being too old, I always think of my cousin on the south coast who went white-water rafting in the Rockies at the age of 69 His mum went with him!! Cousin and mum lived to tell the tale - she'll be 97 next month

And these people have the right to judge you on what basis Scary? Is a mother being responsible by buying a huge £75000 165mph Porsche Cayene to take little tarquin and meadow flower to private school? Or is she simply Buying what she thinks is the safest mode of transport she can afford? Or is it an extravagance? You do not have to justify anything you do with your life to anyone. It seems very ironic that they will sponsor you for throwing yourself out of a perfectly servicable aeroplane but they dare pass comment about a motorcycle! I bet if you said you were riding from lands end to john o groats to raise money for sick children they wouldnt dare say a thing! F*^k em! Buy the bike.....they are only jelous!
