Seeing my gorgeous girl, aged 13, togged out for a Halloween party with her friends -scarily in my stuff - how time flies, remember the days when she was a year old in age 3-6 months clothing......
its halloween and my daughters 10th birthday today.....LC is over in a bit and were all going to matlock bath later to see the illuminations on the river.....
Can't think of one specific thing that made me smile today, 'cos so much happened to make me grin. Read on and judge for yourselves;
1. Seeing Cassie having fun on her bike and getting plenty of miles under her belt.
2. Watching Nutkin making friends with a bullock as it had her pinned between itself and a barb-wire fence. RK was the other end of the field so I had to come to the rescue although the bullock wasn't a-moo-sed (sorry). Why, oh why did I not think to use the camera round my neck at the time?
3. Stopping for a quick ciggie break just before Scotch Corner and having a really nice old chap stopping beside us and getting out then stated that he had followed us for the last 20 miles and said that it was a pleasure to follow us and how well we rode. Just to have someone stop and say that was just brilliant. We shook his hand and thanked him, of course, but were completely blown away that he had taken time out of his journey to compliment us.
4. Nearing home from our ride out, I spotted a young chav walking across the exit of the roundabout totally oblivious to me heading straight towards him. Mobile in one hand and can of fosters in the other, I missed him by inches so willingly gave him a pleasant 'toot' of my horn whilst revving my bike just in case he didn't hear the horn (I'm good like that). Young chav turned into prima ballerina when he (not so) elegantly, in one swift movement, spun round on one foot whilst throwing his can of fosters in my direction (I know 'cos Cassie was following and told me). Luckily for all concerned, the can of fosters missed me, hit a parked car and was completely wasted as was the 2nd can of same beverage which fell out his pocket and rolled away down the road. Then, would you believe it, young chav was equally shocked when Cassie zipped past him shocking him just as much again I reckon. Sadly, out of fizzy ammo, young chav dissapeared into the night whilst we chuckled all the way home.
i smile every day when i drop my daughter off at her special school watching all the kids who go there enjoying life, and coping with life a lot better than some kids do....they all pull my leg on the way out its priceless.
Riding my bike the 300 mile round trip to my friend's house alone.
More importantly, getting the bike off her steep driveway (backwards) without any problems what so ever.
Finally (and I'm not sure this should be in the happy thread) but riding home in the worst winds I've ever ridden in. Up the A1 and through Lincolnshire was particularly hairy with the bike feeling like it was going to be swept from underneath me but I coped.
Feeling very pleased with myself as I couldn't and wouldn't have done this a few months ago.
