Hey Dyna, you CANNOT convert a diesel engine to run on LPG !!
If you are thinking of running on chip fat, used oil or anything other than diesel itself, make sure you have an engine that is NOT a 'common rail' design. ie before around year 2000.
Most diesels after this time are Common rail and if you are going to stuff chip fat etc, through this system that has to produce fuel pressure of up to 30,000 psi, YES, 30,000 psi (2000 bar) be prepared to fork out for a new high pressure pump & prob a set of injectors pretty soon.
Tolerances on late model diesel equipment are as low as 0.002 mm. as a comparison, a human hair is around 0.06 mm.
The pump isnt that dear .. approx £300 to £800 EXCHANGE
Injectors can be as much as £175 to £500 EXCHANGE EACH.
Most injectors will then require coding to the ECU or will not inject the correct amount of fuel.
Most modern diesels are just as, if not more, complicated as Modern petrol engines.
An Astra for instance has a Twin overhead cam, four valve per cylinder, turbo charged, electronic fuel injected engine with an ECU reliant, air mass meter, exhaust recirculation valve, throttle body and a diesel particulate filter that requires regenerating (burning off) every 200 to 300 miles.
Still want to put chip fat in it. ????

If it has the PD (pump duse) system.All the above aplies to your VW TDI, I assume its a VW as not many other VMs use 'TDi' designation.

With the snow this year and last year, its becoming imperative that we get a 4x4 of some sort, but as I said, the charger is something that I wouldn't mind doing. Right now though just a pipe dream
bit cheaper here too around 124.9 for petrol. but still costing me £95 per week to travel to work...thats now the cost of a full tank!
its a bit cheaper to run diesel here as nearly everyone seems to run on red! or cheap laundered diesel marketed as biofuel! lol
@shadow - used to be cheaper to drive 50 miles and fill up in ROI but with the financial crisis down there its still marginally cheaper just not cheap enough. And diesel is around 10 cents a litre cheaper than unleaded so why is it 6 or 7p dearer here
Thats the trouble thay know we just moan and pay up in the summer when the pump says £1.50 ltr it's to late, we need to speak up now to get the price down to a fair price thay know it's a waiting game and we will do somthink eventually but the higher we let it go the higher it stays
