Hey all. Glad to see such a MASSIVE boost in the site this weekend. Over 200,000 hits and 300 private messages sent, along with 200 forum posts! A huge thank you to all of you. Just a quick question though......if you were to subscribe to this site, would you pay firstly and if so how much? 99p? £1.99? £2.99? £5? £10? MORE??? Thanks again, so happy to see the site being used so much this weekend.

awww cheers! £25 per year works out at around £1.90 per month RC, and ur right that is cheap as chips. I'm thinking of doing the subscriptions at £5 per month for anyone who signs up with 6 months - and this price would stick for that member for the rest of their time on the site. After that it would be priced at £9.99 per month for anyone who didnt sign up within the first 6 months. Would you consider this reasonable? My idea is to get enough people paying so that I can take it up full time. When I do this, I can concentrate more effort on creating new sections and hosting events etc. As it is at the moment, I'm too busy with my day job(s) to be able to put any more time into the site. I want to host parties for the site, with different events such as Dance nights, rock nights, speed dating events etc. If 200 people subscribe at £5 (or 100 at £9.99) then I can quit my job and do it! I'm relying on all of you to help make the site a success though, and cannot thank you all enough for your kind words and support in the first few months. Just the kind words make it worth while, and I love to see people enjoying something that I've created (Like a band releasing a song that people love, or artist drawing a great picture).

Unfortunately not Direct Debit payments can be processed though PayPal though. To include such a feature on the site would require thousands of pounds more in investment. You wouldn't believe how complicated it is to set up. Merchant accounts to create, secure links to setup, etc. PayPal also manages subscriptions and interacts with my server so that it upgrades your account dynamically upon payment etc. It's quite a sophisticated setup just to use paypal. Good thing with paypal is that although it costs a lot per transaction, it is free to setup. Compared with about £5000 setup costs for other methods (Plus about £400 per month thereafter). As it is, only a handful of people are subscribed at the moment, so it clearly wouldn't be worth my while to invest all this money (Which I dont even have, haha).

£5 sounds like a good starting price to get people interested matt, not many people would keep their hands in their pocket for that, maybe its the paypal thought that stops people signing up, for once i found it quite easy to do and im as thick as stew, i was quite pleased with myself, people like promos, so maybe try for a week £1 and then 3 months@£5? and then reverts to £9.99. think most people would see £10 per month as v. good value for money! bottom line is thats your livlihood! anyone else got any suggestions?
