& failed even tho it was a sunny day. But not for the reason you might think. here is my lil report lol My instructor gave me some good advice to start with, I was fine with the slow stuff, he had advised me that when going round the bend I was to be in 2nd before I got to it, then as I came out to just (his words here) 'go for it, dont bother what the bike sounds like I want to hear it scream from here' So I did, off I pootled, did the slow stuff no probs, did the bend, screamed out of it to the speed trap, eased off the throttle, no brakes till after the swerve & into the little blue box, whilst the guy went to find out how fast I was going I got the thumbs up from my instuctor that it looked good, off I went to finish the rest, again the engine screaming for the emergency stop & doing well. THEN I was asked to do the swerve again 'gulp' off I pootled backed off again as I went through the speed trap & bugga of buggas clipped the blue cone as I went through the swerve, the rest of it was fine, but that was the move that failed me. Apparently the blue cones are like china, even if you clip it thats it its a fail & I had clipped it & knocked it off its mark. Speed wise 1st run past on swerve was 47kph, emergency stop 52kph & the 2nd swerve 51kph (you get 2 chances at swerve & emergency stop) & up untill this point I had 2 minors thats all. Due to the damage to my shoulder from last year I did this on a 125 (500 was still a wee bit heavy ) so it is possible, I feel that anyone who knows what they are doing on a bike & takes it as you would a ride out & doesnt get too nervous should be ok. Well guess will be on Stuey for a while not Vinny Hints off my instructor. You need to be in 2nd gear as you enter the 1st bend. As you come out of the 2nd bend really open it up, dont be afraid of the noise the bike will make. Do NOT brake as you come through the speed trap, just ease off the throttle. Brake after you have done the swerve.

oh i see it now... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctIfIXlPmYk Wow that's pretty crappy. Suppose it's only like some pillock opening his car door on you though that you have to swerve away from. Good idea I think. Still sorry to hear that you failed though

Unlucky shell; you'll crack it next time, for sure.

Awww Shell I'm gutted for you. It sounds as if you did everything that was asked of you, so you know you can do it. Take a break, have a bit of fun with Stuey and do it agen when you're ready. Kaz xx

Sorry to hear that Michelle and for such a minor little thing too. Can only imagine how gutted you must feel but next time you'll know exactly what to do and it won't feel so daunting I'm sure. Looked at that video Matt (and the other of the whole test) and there is no way I'd manage some of that now on my 600 (pushing it backwards for a start) and certainly not after what amounts to only a handful of days training. Wouldn't liked to have done it on my 125 either! Thanks for posting your experince Michelle, I'm sure those following in your footsteps will find it very helpful.

Thanks everyone, for now I am just going to relax & enjoy Stuey tho Ian keeps reminding me he will have to play out with Vinny every so often to keep the engine runing

Hi Shell as a learner I found that really interesting esp. the tips your instructor gave you. Am dreading trying mine as I go to bit's on tests as it is. But will be giving it a go soon.

Like I've said before; knowing why you do something wrong is half way to being able to do it right. Every cloud etc.

Jan I am sure you will do ok, listen to Rose, its not as bad as its made out, ok yeah I did it in the dry but even so you have a long run up & a long slow down, just treat it as a ride out & enjoy it. As I was told by my instructor, most accidents happen because people break into the swerve & you should just ease off throttle & then start your breaking after it. Thanks Geoff, belive me wont cut in so fast next time. Chick ... 3rd time is a charm as they say .. 1st I couldnt do cos tax disc had fallen off, 2nd I failed ... next time its mine !!! lol
