Ok...6pm.. opens mi front door to go and get my bike and Ninas there waiting!! lol (Thanks to my son for gettin bike out for me.. it's a reet awkward manouveur)..anways...
We don't hang about.. a few adjustments to the gaffa tape on my indicator and we're off..
Everythings going fine.. gets to Hemsworth by-pass, time to open up the throttle and hit 60 woooooooo hooooooooo.. except..
Ziggy starts resisting and holding back "cmon Zig" I drop down a gear "POP" (he lets me know that hes not happy and lets rip a big poop) but hes still resisting the need for speed... dropping down to 30mph I go up a gear.. still nothing... I twist n turn the throttle giving it more and more revs... but hes proppa protesting now, so im chugging along at 30 and Nina's having to keep holding back for me.
We get to Ackworth and take the little village twisty roads.. fine, 30mph is good (in this situation) then as we get to the faster stretch of road, the 60mph bit ... Zig has a strop and don't go above 30mph!
This is gettin a bit embarassing now.. i have my own convoy who one by one decide they want to be leader, me and Zig let them past, while i keep one eye on Nina who has gone on ahead to make a clearing for the convoy. Then I have an artic wanting to tickle Zigs rear end.. which he takes an instant dislike to and lets out a rather loud "POP" Ok Mr Lorry Driver gets the hump and decides he doesnt want to be back marker any more, and off he goes into the distance.
Then we get to the old A1, right, this is gonna be fine, Zig will keep up with the movin traffic....... WRONG.. we join the A1 and Zig thinks it would be fun to pootle along at 25 mph!! This is gettin silly now, not to mention dangerous, I'm tryin all ways to get him to move a little faster, but hes not having it.
We get on the last stretch of road before Squires and theres a trike waiting to pull out of a junction, It's Mick (triker100) and he pulls out behind me, soon very close behind me as Zig refuses to get above 30 still .
We gets to Squires and I tell Nina and Mick of my speed problem, lack of it! lol
After a bit of discussion we decide to go an get a cuppa and have a think. Gets inside and Geoff and Rachel are there, and Raf, then Emzed turns up. I immediately tell everyone of my little problem and after we've had a cuppa, Em, me, Mick and Geoff go to have 'words' wiv Zig.
Long story, short (soz i dint think i cud type this much this early lol), Em checks alsorts including the air filter, the spark plug which is black! (thanks to Geoff for the loan of his virgin/untouched/unsullied/spotlessly clean Honda toolkit!) and does a few tweaks here and there. He takes him for a spin and Mick says its still sounds rough.
EM gets back and its still not running right..a few more tweaks this time the choke, and Em goes for another spin...
Ahhhh sounds much better! Me an Mick watch him go whizzing past Squires (yes Zig can whizz lol) and we joke that he will be comin back round on the rear wheel, he did seem to be enjoying himself lol
Well he gets back and says its much much better... all sorted! by this time Tony(tb100) has arrived, and he has a look and a little ride round the carpark and says the back brake needs adjusting.. which he does and its much better now too!
Then comes the ride home and Zig is like a boy-racer!! wanted to hit the tonne .. im not kiddin..hes a hooligan .. ok ok.. so i lied but he did want to keep up with the flow of traffic and i think he fair enjoyed his ride home.. I know i did! lol
Big Thanks again to all of you there last night, whether it was just to give me moral support or actually to get your hands dirty, it was very much appreciated. Especially as there was talk of me leaving Zig there and gettin a pilly back wiv Em.. or tying Zig to Micks trike, or puttin a tow rope on Ninas bike Tiny.. and thanks Raf for suggesting the Bungee... and catapulting me home!
All in all another good ride out .. albeit an eventful/embarrassing one at times, but if i had known Zig was 'choking' i would have been able to sort it.. Sorry Zig
Thanks you lot.. luv ya loads !!
Hey Kaz - nice one
Sounds like you're having the same probs as mine though!!
However 'tweeking' hasn't worked on mine - we're going down the route of a new jet now!
Glad you're getting out on Zig though - keep the bike whispering up & get him told
Cheers Stella, it was just like that first time when i came over to yours and Zig was struggling, but hopefully its sorted now.
Em said he will try and check it over before Sunday as I was feeling quite hesitant about riding all that way to Whitby, I'm still not 100% confident, we shall see.
Are you coming on Sunday? Hopefully you're bike will be sorted by then?! It seems to be one thing after another eh?
How many bikers does it take to fix a bike? Glad you made it back under your own steam tho. can be a bit embarrassing arriving home on the back of a truck.
It only takes 1 PP but always needs 3 or 4 to offer helpful
hints/tips/advice
I still think cleaning out the whole fuel system from tap to inlet manifold ! (which may have a restrictor plate) and a new plug and cap will sort it Em
Well done Karey for not just getting off and leaving Ziggy to sulk on his own.
Doesn't this just show you what a lot of nice people there are out there who are willing to help and what makes it even nicer is the fact that it's people you have met from this site.
Wish we had meet ups down this way like you seem to have up north.
Cheers Dips, it did cross my mind to pull in and have a sulk, but Zig might not have started up agen
You are so right about the lovely people on here, nothing is too much trouble for anyone. This is testament to the biking community in general..
I am so glad I found this site and all you lot! My life has been enriched by some truly fantastic people!
You will just have to move up here ! lol
Good on you K xxx for not giving up...My Mini V struggles with 70...I got her up to that the moment I got her from Lichfield on Sunday..but I tend to change down and reboot...get there in the end...lol
I agree with what youve said to Dips...so lovely that us girlies are doing it for ourselves and have had some wonderful support from other bikers on BM...it is SO appreciated isnt it girl?
Wish I had done this years ago and told Baz I was doing it anyway..I know he was dead against me riding...but yesterday when I was going round the Potteries I know he would have been so proud of me...might even have approved!!! LOL...
I just cant wait to do my DAS and test now...Ive not stopped grinning since Sunday...not getting any housework done as Im always out!!! Had to stay in today and get something done...going shopping later...but not on the bike...got a weeks shop and it wont fit in my back box!!!! LOL...
Hoping the weather improves for later as Im dying to go to MFN tonight...just uploading my piccies from last night onto my profile so you can see me Mini V..and YES thats me!!! YEEE HAAA!!!
Take care hunny trying to get someone to look after girls for me on Sunday so I can come with you on the run...will take me ages to get to Squires as I cant use M1/M18 and A1M as usual..found an alternative route..so please keep your fingers crossed that I can escape and join you Stella and Nina on Sunday...
RIDE SAFE HUNNY XXXXX
Come on CG, the south contingent is growing, beside, that A513 to you is great fun and BC & me wernt far from ya. Looking at organizing a midland ride out, watch this space. Suggestions on a postcard please, but was thinking Rugeley/Cannock way.
I feel I should confess that despite my beliefs as to the reliability of Hondas, my toolkit was not actually unused prior to surgery with Ziggy. It has been used before ....
On Stella's bike!
Newkid I know the south is growing but trying to get them on a ride out or camping weekend seems no go, last year I organised a week end camping had loads of names down booked the site and entertainment, right by some fab biker roads namely the A444 and then people let me down.
Mind you will say had a good turn out for the post xmas meal at Bassetts Pole.
You should get even further south CG... there's a little hardcore in Kent/Essex who get together nearly every Wednesday and once a month or so for a gig night
like cg says, it would be nice 2 meet more peeps from round our way, me n cg r only about 15 miles from each other, well dun 4 yr perseverance on yr ride 2 squires xx
