I have my ticket already to do this, you can also just turn up now on the day and do the ride. A small contingent of Harley Davidson riders from the UK attended the first Remembrance Day service at the National Memorial Arboretum near Burton on Trent on 11th November 2007. At the memorial there is a ‘wall’ with 16000 names on, remembering our troops that have died since WW2 through one cause or another. It was noticed that were a large number of younger people in attendance with the service a very moving experience. It was mentioned by those riders attending as something that should be marked yearly, similar to the event held in the United States, but obviously on a smaller scale. One of those riders at the event was Martin Dickinson, Director of Nene Valley Chapter who brought the idea of an annual event up at the HOG UK Directors meeting in late 2007. There was an overwhelming response from his fellow Directors and every encouragement given to plan such an event. Check out link for full version............. http://www.rttw.co.uk/index....tml You do not need to have a HARLEY or be in the Harley Owners Group (HOG) or a member of a HOG chapter to participate. If you do belong to HOG Chapter or an M.C.C. they would appreciate knowing (space on booking form )

I was going to do this ride with the Preston Chapter, but I have been asked to work in another shop as they have no staff to cover it on Saturday. (I work for Johnson's the Cleaners in Blackpool). I am also getting an extra £20 for working the day which means a tank and a half of fuel for the bike

Wow there is now over a 1000 bikers with their names down to ride this ride. This will be the biggest ride out I have taken part in and going to be good practice for my slow riding, which is funny really as my Rospa group are putting on a slow riding session on Sunday morning I am also hopeing to get to. If I can't pass this after saturdays ride there must be something seriously wrong.

What can I say, this turned out to be a very moving day and thought provoking time. There were was possibly over 3000 bikers in this ride. Standing at the memorial listening to the piper playing, then listening to the service and the buglar playing the last post just moved me to tears making me realise how lucky I was that my daughter came back safely from the war. It was a shame we couldn't have had a group of riders from this site considering how many turn up to other events like Matlock or Squires.

Just to back up wot CG has already said. The day was fantastic. a great turnout of bikes from all over the country. As an ex serviceman also a very proud day. I'm sure that there are a few others on the site it would have been nice to see you all at this event. So you can all see wot you missed and give you the heads up for next year so you'll all manage to get out of bed for a good cause. here's the link to the vid...http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=GLlTrgwVHuU&feature=related.

I was at work at MIRA, just off the A5 near Hinckley and I must have counted 200 or so bikes passing MIRA drive. Very moving, and very much apreciated. If someone don't mind holding me hanky I'll be at the next one.
