Roofer came round this morning to fix a hole in the porch over the front door. Two hours later, a panic-stricken phone call from younger son, who was at home, saying that the place is full of smoke.
Get back to find the porch roof burning away merrily! Fire bobbies duly called, and now the place is a mess. Smell of charred wood everywhere, porch needs a new roof, bay window above is gonna have to be completely rebuilt and the cat is nowhere to be seen.
Roofer's in a bit of a panic cos his insurance doesn't run to using heat, he thinks. Now he tells me! Off the top of my head it's a thousand or more for the structural work...just let my insurance company sort it out, I pay the blighters enough! Feel a bit sorry for the roofer, who's a decent guy, but it's not my fault if his cover is inadequate.
In other words, I ain't a happy bunny!!
The cat finally reappeared nine and a half hours later, strolling dowstairs. I've no idea where she was as we'd looked in all the dark lurking holes, but were we relieved to see her! Children fretting (and dad too, to be honest).
Glad to know your cat is back and really sorry to hear about what happened hopefully you will get it sorted very soon.
I still have the hole in my kitchen ceiling from my flood and no carpets down either as everyone that comes out to quote me to do the ceiling don't really want the work.
Wills, sorry to hear about your calamities...glad your cat is ok too...hope everything sorts itself out as soon as possible...wishing you all the best...
Sorry to hear CG that you are still in a mess...that is typical..I once had an underground pipe explode through 4 floors like a massive bomb went off...no one wanted that job either..mind you there was very little left of my kitchen and the whole house had been flooded up to 3ft throughout..that was many years ago..but I still remember the stress and upset...get your loss adjusters onto someone QUICKLY....good luck Dips!
Daveyboy - sorry to hear about your unfortunate incident the other day..I know how mint your bike was, but the most important thing is that you are unhurt...Keep your chin up mate! HUGS to you...
No one off BM bothering to come and see me when I can't get out..
I know the lovely ones who live too far away would come...
Thanks again Jen for the flowers!
Keep your chin up SteveCBR
Aww B C no can do mate, I can't even afford to go visit my mum and she only lives 15 miles away. I hadn't seen her for 5 weeks up to Sunday, when my lad took me to see her.
I've got 80p to last me 5 days and I've just got my bank statement informing me I owe 5 quid for going overdrawn. When the teller said the charge is 50p I thought she meant in total, not 50p per day lol
I wonder if I could get a red light bulb for 80p?
I came out unscathed wills. Snuck up on her blindside, and mugged her with the fairy liquid. Made out i was stroking her, then assaulted her with a wet sponge..all done in 2 mins and she never even realised!
