Ian, yes I would mate !! and do. I can & do reprogram some manufacturers keys, along with diesel injectors, Air flow meters, EGR valves, throttle bodies etc. You even need to re-adapt the ecu on some vehicles when you replace part of the exhaust !!!!!!!!!!!! Average car has around 30 to 40 ecu's (computer) nowadays. Just the updates, for the different types of diagnostic software I have, cost me around £2000 a year. And I've probably been on more courses in the last 4 - 5 years than I've been on in the previous 30. Just to keep up with technology. I wonder why my hair is going silver ..

I do one of those jobs that ten year old boys can't believe a grown man would actually spend his time doing.

I used to design and supervise the construction of works on the public highway (and still do sometimes) and that was quite interesting and something that ten year old boys would find impressive.

But now in the main other people do the designs and the supervision of works on the public highway and then the local authority to whom the highway belongs to employs me to come in and say things like "That bit ain't very safe" and "Ooo, err, don't know if I like that".

And then to rub salt into the wound, after I've pointed out what I think "ain't that safe" (professional terminology), the original designer is allowed to make all the changes!

And now it is getting worse! Now it appears that I'm going to be employed by solicitors acting on behalf of people who have had other people crash into their car. My job is going to be to read the Police accident report that says "it was his fault" and for me to then repeat "it was his fault"! Not that enthralling really I'm afraid.

Hey, I may even be asked to stand up in court, wave a short chubby finger at some guy and say "it was his fault ... can I go home now?"

Exciting hey? Well no, not really. Do I have professional skills liable to be of use to anyone on this site. Doubt it.

When I was ten I wanted to be a rock star.

Boring old computers!!

Been working with them for the last 30 years, initially as a hobby then as a profession. Currently an Infrastructure Manager so design, build and maintain complete server and network systems.

Mainly specialise in Microsoft Server systems but am also a VMware professional. So am into virtualisation of systems to reduce physical and environmental impact.

Not much use to anyone on here unless you have a small business and want some advice!
