Going for a brilliant rideout today, despite getting soaked to the skin. Home-Settle-Hawes-Leyburn-Ripon-Pately Bridge-Skipton-Home. Had a few 'oh sh*t' moments, but all in all, loved it. Oh and the company was great too!
He knows me quite well, but he hasnt seen me drunk yet, so he still likes me
He told me my lines were good and positioning was perfect...shame he was talking about my bike riding and not something else
However.....that aside, my confidence went up another notch...for some reason i always feel really relaxed when i'm out with him. I even faced my nemesis and did the Settle - Hawes road(the road i scared myself shitless on and lost my confidence), which i was quite proud of. Ok, no great speed, but no trouser filling moments either.
The trouser filling moments were on other stretches of road, which is fine, cos i cant remember exactly where they were
A very good friend made me smile today ..... You never know whats round the next corner an when you hit a low (deep hole in my case) its nice to know that there are peeps out there you can turn too.
Dont know what i' do without 3 special people in my life right now thanks to all 3 of you xxx (you know who you are )
cumming to realise through all the crap and d/heads out there, there are still some truely wonderful people, knowing them and being able to call them friends makes me smile
Due to roadworks on the A1, went to work the pretty way. It's longer and slower so went earlier than normal. And guess wot - hardly any traffic! The Northallerton to Darlo road is a bike road par excellence - so arrived at work wiv big grin on chops And then told to go home as there was a power cut - and the sun's shining, so it's more fast pootle time!
Getting an incredible email from my Pa, who's trying for yet another bash at rehab in the spinal injuries unit at Stanmore... I won't copy the whole lot (you'd understand where my tendency to waffle comes from! ) but I'd just like to share this bit and dedicate it to all the over-worked, under-appreciated, under-paid chaps & chapesses in the NHS:
The other highlight of my visit so far is
that I went swimming on Wednesday for the first time in three years. It
was sheer bliss! Had a flotation collar to keep me afloat on my back
and managed to do about 6 lengths backstroke in the limited time
available. The equally lovely Jane was in the water with me to make
sure I didn't drown. She was astonished that I floated so easily and
that I was more confident in the water than on land. I said it was
because I was full of hot air.
Looking
forward to more of the same next week and the week after. Based on
progress so far, I am now 100% certain that I am going to achieve all
the objectives I set for myself before I arrived in Stanmore. I have
never been so happy in all the past three years of adjusting to my
disablement. This is thanks to all the saints and angels who run this
place. They are so good at their jobs and so dedicated to success, that
just being with them inspires and motivates me to jump the highest
hurdles.
Thanks for your persistence and dedication to your work
Now I'm off to dust this bloody forum... talk about leaky-eye syndrome! Sometimes, my Dad seriously rocks!
