Nextdoor's cat laying in wait in long grass near a dish of bird seed I'd put on the ground (no feeder for the seeds) I moved the dish to where the grass is short, when I realised what the crafty devil was up to, and the cat walked off across the garden with a look that could kill

Finally catching up with the latest family news and hearing about my Ma being told politely, but firmly, by the police guarding her cordoned off road that under no circumstances would she be permitted entry to said road...

An unexploded bomb had been discovered a few houses down from their place. Folk had been evacuated... Poor old Pa felt like he was all alone, trapped in his bed with his useless legs and only the dog to keep him company in the countdown to meeting his final destiny in a big bang!

Of course, the poor copper didn't stand a chance. I suspect Mother went into full on Hyacinth Bucket mode and berated the unfortunate chap for abandoning her poor, defenceless paralysed husband... upshot being that she was finally escorted by a young and somewhat nervous policeman on foot to her house and told to "stay in the bunker"! Bless. He was probably more frightened of her than the UXB to be fair though.

Seems it was much ado about nothing as the cordons came down as fast as they'd gone up. *shrugs*
