Mine's a VFR so I ain't bothered about the looks anyhow.. Old, slow and cheap to insure, as I saw on one VFR numberplate.. (And its only a couple of times a year on tours)..
Anyhow - you can't hardly see them tiny boxes unless you squint...

hehehe
I've tried hard panniers on mine Ian, horrible! Rediculously wide, impossible to do any proper filtering with and if you fill the things it feels like a bus in the corners.
I hate my topbox, completely ruins the looks of the bike, but I put up with it for practicality. However, I'd never put hard panniers on a bike again; apart from those specifically designed around them, Pans, large BMs etc, all bikes look daft with hard panniers.
Besides, Roachy and I took enough gear for a week to France including going out clobber and a laptop. And all this was in a topbox, tankbag and a pair of Oxford sports throwovers and we had room to spare. (For bottles of water because of how hot it was!)
the oxford sports one shell are really good, they attatch under and over the seat, and tie on too, loads of room, they have waterproof covers tucked away in them that can be fitted in seconds.
the thing that made me smile was the fact that a certain BM member, (they know who they r) was kind enough 2 come ova 2 mine just 2 put me bike away in my garden 4 me as they know i am in a lot of pain and cant ride it at the moment, a HUGE thankyou goes out 2 this person. xx
The look on the girls face when I pulled over to see if she was ok.
She was stopped just off a roundabout and I thought she might have broken down so pulled in the see if she was ok.
"yes Im a marchal on a bike run"
Thanks, XK, I was waiting to see who'd come up with that kind of crack! There were a lot of BMs there among the visitors. For exhibits a V-twin essential, but loads of BM oilheads parked up.
Had a pint with a mate last night and he told of picking up a dropped set of bike keys for some girl as she she was struggling a bit with her lid. "What's it do to the gallon" he said as a chat-up line, looking at the little 125. "Haven't a clue, mate," she said as she mounted an old Kwak Z1000 next to it and rode off into the distance!
