finding out my mum possibly had 2 nd stroke but hearing she been kept in for mri as they nt sure :-( wishe di lived less than 6 hrs away and could handle me dad going to pieces without me jioning in
Oh god, don't talk to me about hedgehogs... I had to rescue one from a group of kids last week down at the playground... they were stamping on it trying to get the conker out!

Arriving home Sunday to get a phone call off mom saying dad was being taken to hospital with a heart attack, thankfully he is responding well to the treatment he is getting.
I an posting this really cos it came as a shock to find that the pains he had been getting down both his arms that he thought were just a strain from lifting something at 9am that day was in fact the start of a heart attack, and it was only when it got really bad at 6 and mom dialed 999 was it seen by the paramedic. it was caused bya blood clot they think. The Dr says that the standard left hand tingle grab chest etc that you see in films only happens in about 50% of cases, and that he has seen people like my dad who don't realise the other 50% of the time.
Keep an eye on the older ones, dad was not a prime candidate for heart problems, even the Dr said he would not have marked him for one.
Thinking of you and your family sv. Thank god your mom acted & the medics recognised what was happening and were able to start the interventions. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your dad and passing on the need to be vigilent to others...better safe than sorry x
Thanks everyone the news today is looking good, he is responding well and they think the clot is breaking up, we will know more thursday after his engiogram.

My ex hubs had a heart attack a couple of months back, we're still mates, hes only 47 a builder and quite fit, and like your dad, just had a tingling in his arms, and a bit of stress but not much.. started about 6am..then by 9pm he was rushed into hospital..
All going well now .. hes having to go to hosp for treatment .. not sure exactly what.. but hes doing good..
Hope your dad is too... its still a horrible thing to have to go through for the family as well as the patient.

Thank you again all, they did a scan today on his heart and the bottom half has been damaged, they now doing his engiogram tomorrow to find the extent, it's also not pumping as strongly as it should.
If they can do anything tomorrow while he is under they will, if he needs a bypass will have to stay in till they can do it :-(
