I hope you all have an amazing time. Our house has sold and I am busy looking for one to buy for myself so a good thing I cancelled this one. Lots of packing to do and tip/charity shop runs ahead. Fingers crossed I find a house with bike storage or we may have to part ways 😟 Have a good one all x
I came up using mainly B roads, 268 miles, it was a lovely ride, up through the North Pennines and the Northumberland Country Park, going out for a little jaunt round some of the Northumberland 250 tomorrow, although rain is forecast for the afternoon and all day Saturday, see you all tomorrow night.
As I'm starting over 100 miles south of your place I'll use the A1 at least until North Yorkshire and I'll see how wet it is after that...see you late afternoon hopefully 😀
Well that was an experience...almost completely dry 280 mile ride up, admittedly by the boring route but after Leeds even the scenery from the A1 is better than Cambridgeshire 🤣
Saturdays ride was short and moist but the scenery was OK when I could demist my glasses/ visor (yes it has a Pinlock).
Sunday was a late start but sunny for our pilgrimage to Holy Island and the visits to the Union Bridge and Etal Castle and Tezzas extended ride back.
A very creative/scenic ride down to Scotch Corner to avoid the road closure on the way home and then the long passage down the A1.
Cheers to Steve for organising , Tezza for extending the rides and the company coming part way home and everyone else that turned up for the camaraderie 🏍👍
Another good weekend with happy company. Friday evening was a good catch-up with everyone in the No1 Hotel, good food but a bit expensive. Saturday was somewhat soggy, but I still enjoyed that ride round the back of the Cheviot with Pete, Strom and Tezza. A dry run back from Jedburgh through Kelso and Coldstream made up for all the wet 😈 Sunday was the sunny day so Lindisfarne, the Union Bridge and Etal - not a lot of miles or fast but Neil and I had pillions (Julie and Lindsey respectively). Spectacular scenery, coffee and ice-cream.
