3 weeks to go... Anyone who is thinking about coming and hasn't done so yet put your names down and book your accommodation, and that includes camping.
Steve is really good at posting up menus but I am only posting a link. A reminder to book a table on the Friday night if eating at the Teesdale. They prefer bigger groups to book at 6pm or 8pm so I am going to book 6pm. teesdalehotel.co.uk/page/menus-restauran...unches/
Thanks Susi. The other really good feeding station is the Forresters, again booking is recommend. forrestersmiddleton.co.uk/menu
For those that like to wing it there is a chippie and a pizza shop (both takeaway only). Daleview campsite has a pub that does food sometimes. There are a few cafes but they only open days. The Co-op is open late for anyone self catering. The last option for the truly incompetent is heading to a field and hoping the sheep will share their feed...
If anyone has not yet finalised a place to stay for Middleton, we now have a spare bed in the air bnb cottage almost next door. Fri/Sat/Sun night for the sum total of £65. PM me if interested. Cheers, Susi 👍
Also, just to confirm for those joining the ride up from Squires. If we plan to get there around 12 noon there is time for refreshments/food before setting off around 1pm. Have a break at Brymor icecream parlour around 2-2.30 if our new member chooses to join the ride there and arrive in Middleton roughly 4.30pm? I think those joining me are Strom, Rags, Frank, Alex, Andrew (long way from home) and possibly Khanage from Somerset. Probably Neil and possibly Peter1200GS? Not heard from Vlad or Tezza. All welcome- just let me know so we don’t leave anyone behind! 👍👍
The weather has been glorious up here for weeks and weeks, the last few days had been hot - as in mesh jackets and evening beers sat outside hot. So I don't want one of you lot bringing a late season Fimbulwinter with you and spoiling it 🤣 Or diseases. We definitely don't want any new and interesting diseases 🤒
More seriously
As usual the mobile phone signal is quite good up here, but data connection can be nonexistent. I'll PM contact details.
There are a few new potholes on the road over from Alston, don't get too giddy if you're riding over that way.
Sheep and lambs are everywhere, and they ain't too bright even by our standards. Expect them to wander into the road.
Cool thanks Tezza. On another note, the room is no longer available in the cottage so full capacity again. Looking forward to this break. Got a table booked at the Teesdale for 6.15 woo hoo x ----------------------------------------------------
Quote: I will be at Squires around 12.30pm all being well....
