Hi there, I am very new to all this in fact I feel a bit of a fraud because I don't have my own bike, and I can’t ride but I am a veteran pillion..... My ex was the biker I had every intention of going for lessons but the negative vibes off my ex put me off.... In addition to that, he just dumped me after 6yrs so I lost all confidence in myself. Therefore, I figured if I joined this site I could hopefully still go biking as a pillion (if anyone will have me), and then work on my confidence to go for it myself because it’s in my blood now and I miss it... sniff, sniff Any advice would be helpful, thanks x

Thank-you it’s nice of you to say. I guess I felt a bit out of my depth only ever being a pillion, but I loved it, the freedom and meeting people from all walks of life was great. And I thought I was too old to start now... I just need the encouragement I guess then go for it, thanks hun. Cally xx

Hi and welcome to the club Cally69 Good luck with learning to ride, once you get used to doing half a dozen things at once (braking, changing gears, remembering to turn your indicators off etc lol) then it becomes easier and a joy and isn't as nerve wracking. I recommend you get professional tuition tho, being a biker on the roads is hard enough as it is so probably best to take instruction from those in the know.

Thank-you for your warm welcome and advice, I do intend to go to a proffessional tho, it's finding a good one and as i don't know any bikers at home to ask i find it a bit scarey, if any body knows of some one near Chester please let me know.....

Hi, I joined a couple of days ago and have been watching the forums before deciding to take the plunge and say Hi. I finally manged to pay up as as full member so could take part in the forums and hopefully join in on the chat room. I'm an Englishman abroad (in Luxembourg for the past 20 years) and got back into riding bikes a few years ago. An easy reintroduction with an old Honda CX500, but after a year decided I needed to get back to something more substantial with a BMW R1100RS. I just can't stay away from BMWs. It's my 4th one. Still got the CX which I am planning to restore and keep for old timer rallies. Used to be an all year round rider in the UK, even in the bad weather we had in Bradford, which is where I lived at the time. However since getting back to bikes I try and avoid the worst of the weather. It must be an age thing !! Come over to the UK from time to time to visit my Dad who still lives in Leeds, but usually by plane or car though might make it with the bike next year. Last visit was a couple of weeks ago. Came over to see the Pakistan v Australia cricket match at Lords mid July and took advantage of the visit to do an off-road training course and an off-road home-counties tour. Really enjoyed it. It was the first time I've done off-road. It's supposed to be a training session as I fancy doing a tour in India in the next couple of years, but hope to spend a few days in southern Spain next year. Enjoy travalling (was in Bangladesh, NE India, Sikim and Bhutan for 3 weeks in March) and would love to combine travel and motorcycling. The best of both worlds. Looking forward to meeting up with like minded people on BM and perhaps might find people who are interested in trips further afield. Les
