Lazy Sunday potter out for lunch and a pint beside the River Severn at the Lower Lode Inn,a nice 50 mile run with some quick bits chucked in for pudding..lol :)>
First ride since September; got the bikes out, decided we didn't need fuel immediately so set off to visit dizzydot. Nice bright day and dry weather lasted about 15 minutes then we rode into rain. Looked better away off to the south-east so we kept on; rain got heavier, clouds darkened in every direction, 40 minutes out we circled around a roundabout and took the bikes home. Quick change of clothes and we set off again by car. Drove through some more heavy rain but found it all dry, bright and even sunny down in Ayrshire while we had lunch and a walk around, and it stayed dry all the way home. Still, I had a little bimble.
A lovely dry rideout through Otley, Ilkley, past Skipton with the vague intention of going to Devil's Bridge. Got within 20 miles, decided weather was changing.
Headed over to Pateley Bridge via Greenhow, weather was fab. Stopped for late lunch & cake.
Then back home through Summerbridge and past The Sun Inn, through Harewood and onto Squires before arriving home.
A lovely day, first time out on the bike without thermals. Fab time. Thanks Stuie xx
Checked Speed Triple pads front and back, lubed clutch and throttle cables, faffed around with nosecone ready to paint next week(hopefully weather allowing) :)>
Yesterday had a phone call off a friend they'd forgotten their laptop and was already at birmingham airport so a mad dash to the house with me having a key to collect and meet someone else with a car for them to take it to the airport in 35 minutes...it was like something out of a movie...but they made it lol
Had great run up to work, and managed to dodge showers on the way home after work, even squeezed in a quick blat around after tea...too sunny not to...:)>
A good long ride this very sunny afternoon, then back to prepping nosecone for Rudolph(it's going to be black,so will show any blemish not attended to),and took off the Winter handguards,as functional but NOT pretty...:)>
First day out of Hospital so hopped on bike across pilling sands through Lancaster then up A6 to Kendal and on up to Tebay then across to Brough back via Sedburgh and Devils Bridge down lanes through Hornby and Quernmore then back home 148 miles knackered but happy
Tebay Services do the best motorway breakfast anywhere,Cumberland sausages, black pudding the works...(drools) almost worth getting on the junction before and after, lol :)>
Finally got a warm and dry enough day to do primer base coat on Rudolph's nosecone, black is such a bugger to get right.....:/
Now it's hung the conservatory for the night to cure, fingers crossed....
140 miles before noon in a giant loop up the Fosse Way to Kenilworth, around to Warwick, back down missing out Stratford(too car-clogged)SO many bikes, combos and trikes out, nearly got a stiff neck from so many 'nods' on the way back, but had to stop on Minchinhampton Common to admire a huge kite flying gathering, brilliant sight on a blue sky background..last of the Basecoats on Rudolph's nosecone done, wait to harden off, then rub back ready for glossblack coats...can't rush it but itching to see it done...:)>
Ah...we may well have passed each other yesterday. Cruised up the A5 north to meet Fosse Way out of Leicester, then forked south west. You're right - it was a beautiful ride and busting with bikes! Followed a guy on his new Trident for a while - too fast to pass and a bit too hesitant to form up with. Through Bourton and Stow; loaded with cars and tourists and onto Cirencester. Back through Chipping Norton via the Little Chef at Burford for some birthday pancakes. Grand!
Today, trekking round bike shops looking at Bandits, so called at Charlie's etc in Bradford (nil hope there!) but had better luck at Padgett's and Autorama (spent a bit of time with The Boss Man, what a lovely old gent!) Oh yeah also called at Jem Speed for a delicious burger n fries with a cuppa for a late lunch. . I've got to say the food, atmosphere and hygiene standards at Jem far outweigh Squires, well done guys it was a pleasure to spend time there and the food was fab
