The roads dried out at last so took my latest toy, a Triumph America Lt, for a first spin around the Dales. Interesting mix of the familiar (I've owned a standard Bonneville for 3 years/32,000 miles) and the very different, never ridden a cruiser before
Went for a blast this afternoon cos it was dry, took the SV1000 out, great fun, cant understand why I don't ride this bike more than I do, puts a smile on my face and rides as good as it looks.
I've not gone the whole muff route, but fitted very cheap hand guards on the Speed Triple for winter use, amazing how much better with just the wind blast taken out of the equation,(see profile pics with speed triple)...
Scattered a few more Stainless Steel nuts and bolts around Rudolph the Speed Triple, refilled Scottoiler, checked chain, faffed around with clutch and throttle cables(again),then out and about whilst we had blue sky and sunshine, for a zoom around the hills locally..
Ridden it home after blowing over £400 on a new chain and sprocket set, front brake piston, pads and disc rotor. Ah, the hassles of riding through the winter salt....
Great to go and pick up my bike after being stood for 2 weeks and fired up straight away..plenty of back up if she wouldn't start..now dropped her off for back brake to be put right at no labour cost..happy days
Enjoyed the A46/A37 down to Shepton Mallet and back..Lots of lovely old bikes i couldn't afford, and had a long mooch around the autojumble stalls...the prices some people are asking for what appeared to be total scrap,WELL!! I'll post my pics later on,teatime for me..:)>
Headed south last night went out for a curry double birthday celebrations, then to Bridgnorth cafe for breakfast more like dinner time and the sun broke through so a great ride out before heading home
Started stripping carbs out of Tiger...modern fuels clog up pilot jets SO fast without regular long runs...maybe i'd better take him to France instead of Speed Triple...hmmm
