everyone is entitiled to there opnion, and it doesnt make you a bad person if you do or dont like them, but the fact is we will all tell jokes so why not stick them in all one place so no one has to see them that doesnt want to

all fine by me mate, at the end of the day, we are all adults and if we don't like adult/rude humour we don't have to read it, as long as we're warned about it, there some i find crosses the line but if it's moderated i can see no problems

I agree, with Kwak that some of the jokes aren't funny, but that is the way jokes have always been, whether x-rated or not and some of them are very funny! No probs from me, and as has been said already, if you don't think you're gonna like the thread, don't bother to read it.

Against. The forums are visible by anyone, member or not, including children.

What's the hassle with typing a few asterisks in place of the offending word? Easy peasy.

Just because "everyone else does it" doesn't mean that this site also has to sink to the lowest common denominator. Nice to have a little decorum sometimes.

As previously mentioned, a subscribers only area could be used for such things if you're that desperate to be allowed to swear.

ok wannabe......then your happy for anyone to open a thread that just has the jokes title on, then read it even if its inapropriate......surely thats worse than having a titled thread warning people if adult contented jokes whether the words are blanked out or not, and if you read back through the posts, you will read what i put re anyone can see/read much worse things on sites for example like you tube.........i would rather warn people to give them the option not to read........................oh and....welcome back wherever youve been

Isn't that what mods do Ian, beavering away in the background reading threads and taking out inappropriate material. The fact is you're not hearing the joke, you're reading it so letters replaced with asterisks doesn't stop your brain saying the actual swear word to itself.

If I read f**k I actually say fook! Ooops where's that moderator lol

RustyKnight @ 26/07/2009 22:20

the whole point is to keep all jokes adult or non to not offend people, which surely will cut the mods jobs down.

Erm... I did read the posts Ian, hence my comment beginning "Just because everyone else does it". That's my whole point. Just because foul language is available on plenty of other sites doesn't mean to say we have to join in.

What's so hard about blanking/placing asterisks? It's a mixed audience here, some people don't appreciate foul language, other people use it like it's punctuation.

At no point did I say I'm happy for people to read "inappropriate jokes" on here without warning. Don't know how you read that into my post?

Post your warning by all means, but what's so hard about making sure the really offensive words are asterisked appropriately, even following your warning?

Cheers for the welcome back, I've not actually been anywhere (apart from working the weekend) - my router just decided to blacklist BM for reasons best known to itself. I was too busy to spend hours on the phone to the helpdesk to rectify it, so left it til this week, but it's somehow rectified itself. Strange.

Ticketyboo ta Ricdude - I owe you some cash Seeing as I'm now unable to see what occurred last week, I can't tell you what would've happened had I been around

I agree with WB.... I am not proud to admit that I swear like a trooper, but in my defence... oh, hang on, I have no defence lol... I just do. I try hard not to, and rarely do it in front of my kids or parents, but anyway, I am getting side tracked. When I type a swear word, I put ** in or @!! ...for me personally, I am showing some respect to other readers who maybe do not want to see swear words...if that makes sense? I am acknowledging that although I might swear a lot, there are a lot of people out there who do not, and hate to see it. Yes, a warning on X rated jokes is a good idea anyway, as (I think Kwak said)..some of them verge on pornographic even without the swear words! There is the other side of the coin that might suggest that an X Rated warning could actually attract more readers because who wouldn't be tempted to 'have a look' to see what is hidden within?

tell you what them, lets just let members post jokes with the title of the joke as the thread title, people will open them and realise there a joke !! where if there in a thread with a warning the option is there, and as far as i know, there is only three members who are against the idea and everyone else thinks the idea is a good one, just because there in x rated does not ness mean they will have swear words in

CS650 gets where I'm coming from on this... it just shows a little respect for others who don't want to see the full swear words typed out, whether they're in a "warning" thread or not.

Stick up your warning thread and go for it, but please try to maintain a modicum of respect and continue asterisking the really offensive words i.e. those which you would not repeat in front of your parents or your children.
