In the next week or so, I'm going to be locking EVERY account on the website. The only way to unlock your account again will be to verify your email address and click an activation link that will be sent to you. Make sure your email address is valid for now... http://www.bikermatch.co.uk/sites/bm/myaccount/editacco...ccount.asp This has come about because hotmail claim that many of the email addresses we email to are no longer valid. They use this against us in their fight against spam, and if I don't do something about it then pretty soon we will be blocked by most email providers. Every member of BM will need to re-authorise their email address every 90 days from now on. For those who will be due to re-activate your email address, you will be prompted during the logon process. You will be asked to confirm your email address and BM password. Your account will then be DISABLED and you will be sent a link to enable it again. You will not be able to login again until you authorise the email address. Thanks for your cooperation.

you should always give IT guys all the respect they deserve... cos don't forget they have ultimate control over your entire online/IT activity! God help anyone that called me in my previous job and got 'shirty' with me haha, they all paid for it ;-) Yes it's not just hotmail, i used them an example as about 50% of people here use hotmail. Most email providers monitor what email comes from what IP. So for example, they look at all the mail coming from BM and they categorise it. Successful mail to inboxes, successful to the junk mail, failed because the account never existed and failed because the account is disabled, etc etc. The big problem for us is... 1) The mail which gets marked as junk, either automatically or by the recipient. 2) The mail going to old/deleted/non-existant accounts Spammers often generate millions of emails to hotmail account, and they simply make up a load of possible email addresses. johnsmith, jonsmith, johnsmith1, etc... all @hotmail.com, and they know that only a certain % must get through. Hotmail looks at all the incoming email, then say "ok only 10% of email from this site is successful, so we're gonna block it completely". This is gonna happen to us, because so many email addresses are no longer valid. Old hotmail accounts etc that have been removed. Obviously I can't go through all the log files, disabling accounts which i see errors bouncing back for etc. So the best method is to ask everyone every 90 days to check and confirm their email address. Confirmation must be by clicking the activation email link that will be sent to you. So far so good for the staff, everyone has been successful.

They took away your crayons too, huh? They're always doing that to me Yahoo is a bit stupid with the way it processes emails from here and it seems a completely random decision whether the notifications arrive in my inbox or my junk mail. A friend of mine yesterday ended up contacting her IT department as she couldn't fathom out why the right click on her mouse wasn't working... IT blokey must've had that Friday feeling, cos he told her "With Vista, you only get a fixed amount of right mouse clicks per week and once you're done, you're done. You may as well just go home and come back Monday"

lol WB, sounds like one of my responses. You need to add bikermatch to your allowed contacts/safe/white list, this also helps boost our rating with your email provider (a lot!) You should add just the domain @bikermatch.co.uk Sometimes you have to put *@
