The Dutch Public Prosecutor's office has halted all proceedings to prohibit and dissolve chapters of the Hells Angels. This decision was taken following a verdict made by the Supreme Court of the Netherlands yesterday.
It confirmed the verdict of the Leeuwarden courts which ruled that the Hells Angels chapter in the town of Harlingen may not be dissolved. According to the Supreme Court's verdict, members of the Harlingen chapter are guilty of criminal offences but the motorcycle club is not a criminal organisation.
The Public Prosecutor's office had already postponed four proceedings against other Hells Angels chapters but it has now halted them completely in view of the latest verdict. The legal battle against the Hells Angels has resulted in a series of defeats for the Public Prosecutor.
ah yea good point indeed! Unless they can prove that a crime was "masterminded" by the club, then the club is inocent.
Same with the flying club that I'm in. If I take a plane out at night without a night-rating, they im committing an offence... but the club didn't SEND me or approve me to go out at night, hence they're not at fault.
I have to agree Lamble, if can be proved someone is using HA's fundings to fund thier crime activity then surely something could be done against that person to stop them doing this.
But to tarnish all with the same brush I am afraid is something we all suffer from, I know some of the looks I get off people in work when I talk about bikes & the 'oh you don't seem to type to own a bike' comes out ... have great fun at the moment telling them I don't .. I own 2 they don't need to know I cannot ride one of them yet !!

I think this is all missing the point a bit. The police aren't trying to break up the club. In any case the HA are a corporation. "Hells Angels" And the deaths head logo are protected trade marks.
They are trying to stop the bash becouse of the threat of violence breaking out. surely then the argument goes that they should stop all of coventrys home games for the same reason.
It is sort of missing the point, the plod aren't concerned that the HA will start anything at the bash, the last thing HA need is anything happening at the BB as it will reduce profits. The plod are more concerned about the reaction to aggravation from another patch club.

You think the police will go to the trouble of putting an injuction on every angel and outlaw that has a reputation for criminal activities and then follow them all everywhere for weeks beforehand when all they have to do is get the event cancelled. which one do you think there going to try.
Some foot ball was played to an empty ground in the not to far and distant past so Police have stopped potential flash points in sport, but it cost a very large ammount to get this organised and policed.
If there is a violent element it will find away for it's self to be made felt in no uncertain terms. I know a murder was committed but it was away from the bash, there is no certain way to prevent a repeat of this type of crime, closing down a much loved event would never stop it that's for sure, some elements may wish to seek revenge over the death of one of their members, but that remains to be seen and I for one seriously doubt it'd be carried out at a huge gathering like the Bull Dog, some would say the Angels and Outlaws et al are pretty much organised in what ever they do and if that is true then they will be under instructions not to cause trouble on their own doorstep as it were.
Only my opinion but then at least I have one. I for one would not go to the Bash (not my thing) too expencive for me too but there are loads more enjoy it and hence love it. We must remember that there are events for everyone out there and we should try to respect people for the indeviduals they are.
