Finally I think we're going to go to the new server. Everything is setup and ready to go. Last night the sparky came to fix some problems and so I hope to transfer to the new server tomorrow. Note - This will require about 2 hours downtime to transfer all the data, photos, etc from our servers in America. I'm not 100% sure of the time this will happen just yet, but there will be a 1 hour warning on every page of the site (Big banner at the top)

just going through my plan of action... gonna be a big move and hopefully it will all go to plan. Remember to let me know if any of you face any problems after the move. Some users may need to reboot their PC after the server is back online (Or run ipconfig/ flushdns from a command prompt)

The site may die in about 5 minutes, because I'm going to simulate a power failure at my house. Theoretically the UPS units should provide full power for quite some time.

cool.... right now there's no power here at all, the mains have been turned off. Everything is running perfectly on the UPS batteries. Aaaaah - and relax. :-)

hahaha - woooops. Just learnt a valuable lesson... don't let the UPS go below 15% or the server shuts down.

The move will take until lunch time Erm Matt the message on the site stated no access between 9am and 11am. I dunno about anyone else but I don't call 11am lunch Just think I can now annoy you at a faster speed

it was back online at 10:30am, and I was chatting to folks instantly on here (CG for example). According to the log files on the old server, only one or 2 requests came into that server. Everyone else is on the new server :-)
