Also, please tell me that those cheesy 'American biker lifestyle' photos aren't going to be used, they just look so not like any BM member I've ever met.
Jinx Dennis and Denise are trend setting Motorcyclist who are out on there (Ride) 3 times a year (Weather permitting) they both hold down high powered executive jobs in the city. Matt why is it if I go to the events calendar and open November there are no events but if I go to the link on the hallowistmas thread the event is there
Re: new BM site images. Perhaps...one could send a public message to BM members, asking for willing volunteers to submit their pics to use for the new site? Maybe, that would avoid Matt having to use stock royalty free pictures, and give BM the opportunity to show real people doing real stuff? Jussayin'....
There are thousands of event photos from BM events such as the Kiss rallys Barmouth Dent and Cornwall camps. So all the pics are there they just need putting into the site
Agreed JP...but there are still copyright issues and personal rights to consider. Ideally, the people in the pics would need to give their consent to them being used for the marketing of the site. Helps to reduce the risks to the business.
Number 24 in BMs terms and conditions states- By uploading photos to Biker Match you agree that you own the copyright to the photographs. In addition you license Biker Match to use your photographs, in whole or in part for promotion in print and digitally including but not limited to social networking sites and external websites where Biker Match has a presence. If you choose to leave Biker Match in the future Biker Match will not remove your photographs from any print or digital service where they are already in use. No fees will be paid to the copyright owner for the license to use any photographs uploaded to Biker Match. If you upload photographs which you do not own copyright on you will be liable for any costs incurred by Biker Match for their removal including any subsequent costs brought against Biker Match by any third parties.
Problem is that most photos people post aren't professional. So it's really necessary to use decent pics.
JP i'll look into the november thing, but probably because the dates are wrong (people keep putting a start date LATER than the end date, which gives the event a negative duration and so is blocked)
Little info/update As of 2 seconds ago we are now officially running on the new BM server.
It's a virtual server and it's going to take some time for me to get the balance right for performance. Expect the site to restart every so often. Right now I'm not happy with the performance so am monitoring to see what I should change.
