From Manchester Evening News 06 04 2016 (by Adam John)A motorcycle enthusiast has been left devastated after treasured vintage bikes worth thousands were stolen from his workshop. Thieves plundered the three bikes, worth a total of £25k during the break in at the DOT Motorcycle factory on Ellesmere Street, Hulme, Manchester over Easter. Mr Roy Dickman (76) said his beloved 1955 DOT Mancunian 197cc was going to be a gift to his grandson. Other bikes stolen include a 1925 BSA 3 3/4 and a 1962 Triumph Tiger.A toolbox containing £1,000 worth of specialist bike equipment was also taken along with a 1908 DOT Peugeot valued at over £5000.00. It has great historical value as it won the first motorized Isle of Man TT in 1908.The DOT Mancunian is one of only 15 in existence and was made in Manchester. Roy has worked his whole life in the motorcycle industry. The break in happened between the evening of Saturday March 26 and the morning of Tuesday March 29.A spokesman of Greater Manchester Police stated "they are vintage motorcycles so you do not come across them very often. We would ask anyone with any information to call us on 101 and quote incident ref number 290316/549".

Either a lucky haul for them or a planned target .

If I had premises in Ellesmere St it would be so secure Fort Knox would be an easier target, too quiet and remote there after dark .

Be great to hear of him getting them back, but too hot and rare to sell so prob broke up for parts
