well the sun is shining, so i will be at matlock for midday, if anyone wants to say hi......i will be in the car park where the ice cream truck is and the atm, black honda blackbird, and my little girl with her black eye !!!!!!!!lol
just got back with my daughter, shame not one member could make it...i aint gonna get a complex or anything lol, but we had a nice time, and a lovely ride there and back.
yeah well that's what you get for moto gp weekend, remember it from last year!!! Ill probably be experiencing the same tomoz if I have a blast out there as it's race day (as you already reminded me!!) Awesome today though, Rossi on top form got poll position for tomoz - rain held off, quite warm at times, I even got a bit of sun tan on my face as a momento. Anyone going tomoz have a great time, Ill be back to watch it on TV for sure!!
I wish I had been out on the bike not driving the bus. I was in Matlock a week or two ago, showing a southerner around Derbyshire.
I kinda got my wrist slapped, I forgot that Harleys dont have the best ground clearance, turning circle or brakes. Maybe the 12% downhill gradients on a switchback road wasnt the best idea. But they are very pretty bikes, especially with sparks coming off them
But back to the point of my post, did you see the petition about car parking?
It was on a clipboard in Bikers Gearbox. I cant remember exactly but it was to do with bike parking, length of stay, over enthusiastic traffic wardens and the tourism effect that bikes bring in. I can't remember exactly I have slept since then
yes, I signed the petition myself and have experienced first hand the choas the enforced parking restrictions have caused! You just about got it in a nutshell Frag = parking now restricted to an hour each on both north and south parade or the wardens will issue you with a ticket. You can park in the fishpond car park but have to purchase a £1 ticket and stick half on your bike and keep the other half with you for evidence of purchase (they will then let you stay there all day on a Sunday - good of em uh lol?) Absolute chaos and down right dangerous with everying moving bikes around as well as those coming/going as they do all day in Matlock!!! I heard bikers threatening wardens, then wardens calling police etc etc It seems the reason for this is some of the shopkeepers reckon bikers take up all the spaces and in general dont buy from the shops and prevent visitors in cars parking who will!!! Seems crazy as from my experience of Matlock and hearing others say the same, it's the bikers that keep that place going and even the visitors in cars come to see the bikes as well as the place! In fact, in winter, without the bikers the place is dead - if they're not careful they'll kill it off all year round soon! The least they could do is give the bikers some free unrestricted parking at weekends and let the visitors have the place during the week! It's certainly stopped me going there so much, I want to have a nice ride out, cuppa and something to eat and relax, meet fellow bikers and enjoy. Racing up and down to check my bike and move it from one parking place to another to beat the wardens arent exactly what I (or alot of others!) have in mind. Sign the petition if you agree - I doubt it will sort it overnight but then again, the only thing we bikers have to lose is Matlock!!!
