Maynards have bought out Lions, now this may be small potatoes to most, but and here is the rub. Lions made Midget Gems and Sports mixture (the black ones are made from liquorice) their proposal is to change all that and used black currant to replace them. There is a petition to try stop this yet annother loss of a "Great British Instatution" fading away without a fight. If you care and would like to help stop this travasty please follow the link to the petition. http://www.thepinksugarmouse.com/cgi-bin/showpage.fcgi scroll down to the bottom half the page and click the link to the submission page. Cheers Andy

Having I B S I can't really condone licorice with it's laxative effects , I don't like the flavour either. I wouldn't mind some of that Spanish gold tho, I used to love that when I was a kid.

Hull,

This post has just taken me down memory lane. When i was 5 (a couple of years back) I got a quid for my birthday and at the time you got 3 sports mixtures for a ha'penny so I bought a quids worth, (yes 600!) and took them home and filled a fruit bowl. Did I get my arse kicked when my Dad got home from work!

I've just signed the petition mate

I like the hardness of sports mixture but I'm not keen on liquorice so personally wouldn't mind a change to blackcurrant. Don't like any of the midget gems though so they can so what they want with those for me. Why do they change things though, surely they are selling well enough as it is. Edit: I'm not sure which type I've tried, Lions or Maynards but they were harder than wine gums.
