got stuck in Santander in spain when the overnight ferry broke down and had to wait for another one to sail over!
do you try and partake in teh culture and speak a bit the lingo of the country you are visitin?
I do but very limited, like good morning, a coffee please a beer please, thankyou, and good night. I would like to say more. But I can speak 3 languages fluently. English, bad language and b*llocks.
Do you think the English should make more effort at other languages?
pmsl david... well like you said it seems all english can speak at least 3 languages ...
if a foreginer speaks to you do you find yourself raising your voice and speaking slowly thinking they will understnad better ?
Yes, I do have that tendency. Typical british.
My friend I work with, whose hearing is not so good, screws his eyes up when trying to listen to the car radio. I have never worked that one out. Oh and he puts his ear to the radio. He doesn't seem to realise the speakers are else where. I know what has this got to do with the question. Absolutely nothing
What sort of music do you like driving to?
This could take sometime!
After my 1st marraige I decided to drive to Greece for a two month break. I took my daughter and my girlfriend, plus two of her freinds. Easy enough. We drove through France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Yogoslavia and to the Greek border. At the border my girl friend was driving. When you go to Greece by car your paasport is stamped to say you entered with a car. When you leave you must still have the car. It's all about import car tax. My girlfriend was only on the holiday for 3 weeks after which she made her way home on themagic bus. Anyway about one day later I was lying on the beach when the guy in the taverna called me to say there was a phone call from the British vice consul in Thesalaniki, which is on the Greek Yugosalvia border. He told me I had to go to the border and prove I had the car. The border was 100 mile boat ride and 200 mile drive from where I was. I went to see the local customs officers and asked if they could sort it out if I showed them the car and the fact that it was mine. This took two days of arguing in broken greek and english. In the end a local bar owner I knew talked to the customs for me and eventually my girl friend was released to go home. This took 3 days to get sorted and all this time un be known to me she was sat in a customs shed. I did find out after the customs man took her out night clubing.
Am I now supposed to ask a question?
ok you two il ask one shall i ??
