Oh Kwak - worrying times - big virtual hugs to you!

That's pretty shocking that they didn't assume a 2nd heart attack rather sooner as well - I'd have thought that as left arm pain was one of the first indicators in any case, they'd have eliminated heart attack as a cause straight off if she's already had one in the last fortnight!

Mind you, knowing Mums, she was probably putting a "brave face" on it and under-stating the pain she was in. Tell her to start exaggerating it from now on. Seems silly, but it also seems to be the best way to actually get timely attention these days.

Good luck with the toe ops - make sure you're well stocked up cos you won't want to be walking around for a few days! I understand that *really* hurts!

People don't often report the OK stuff and the good stuff... they only moan about the bad stuff. Same with everything - whether it be hospitals, gas suppliers or travel agents... The staff were dead nice this morning at my pre-op assessment. Does that help? Still don't know precisely what sort of op I'm having yet though as no results available... still... it's ages away yet... they're not ripping my innards out til Monday afternoon - plenty of time

As in... "You'll never take my...?" In a strangely Mel Gibson-esque Aussie/come Stateside/come Scots accent?

Not sure if this is sad thread or happy thread material... Sad bit is Dad's pressure sore has come back with a vengeance so he's confined to bed 24/7 again... Happy bit is at least my folks won't be risking life and limb to drive over to the hospital to see me next week

TM the staff at Dorch hospital did a wonderful job sorting my Mum out few months back when she fell and broke her hip while on holiday over here. Nothing was a problem. Treatment was second to none and the Nurses were briliant shes getting on a bit and is quite nervous they worked really hard to make her comfortable Halos all round

This is the 'what made you sad or unhappy today?' thread, not the 'jolly and grateful' thread As it happened I had a lovely nurse looking after me before during and after my op ('procedure' they called it) Thanks Wannabe, we're not sure what's happening with mum, whether it's the medication they gave her or if she's losing her faculties but she doesn't always make sense and sometimes behaves like a child. Is she turning MALE? (I'm kidding afore ya start lobbing fruit at me) It was a totally different procedure to last time, this time instead of cutting my toe open and removing the nail and root that way they used some kind of caustic chemical and burned it off. I wasn't impressed when my toenail was waved in front of my face and I was asked if I'd like to keep it as a souvinir, oh gross! lol. I have to go back to have my dressing changed on Christmas EVE! I'm sorry about your dad and sorry that your parents visiting you in hospital would cause hassle for them and make you feel awful. Big (((hugs))) to you too and even more when you go to hospital again.

Just been over to Asda to grab some lunch ..... OH .... MY ..... GOD!!! You really wouldn't believe the store is closed for just two days! People are stocking up for a month by the looks of it! Talk about bedlam?? Absolutely crazy, if some shoppers climbed onto the shoulders of another, I wouldn't be surprised. I like to think it takes a lot to frustrate me, but I was getting more than a little miffed. One old lady moved out of my way with a very worried look on her face, I suspect she thought I was about to kill her! (To be honest I had considered it.)
