That's a disappointment Tab
But as JP said, a lot of people fail on that
IMHO it's your instuctors fault not yours
You should have been trained to be above the minimum speed required
Which is a shame as I know how much you were looking forward to progressing
And the expense of re-taking it is not easy to bear I know
At least you have come through it with some "positives"
If it was only the speed/swerve part that you failed on
You know that the rest of the test was satisfactory
So well done for getting everything else right
I hope you get things "up to speed" for next time
Sorry to hear that TAB. At least you know know what to do, so give it another go
If you are on a 125, enter the bend in 2nd at about 20 mph, then as you are exiting the bend, max it still in 2nd. This ensures you hit your speed and will not go too fast for the avoidance swerve.
If you are doing DAS obviously on a bigger bike, then don't follow the above.
I'm doing DAS so was on a gladius 650, and am 're-taking it next week! I got the correct speed for both controlled stop and emergency stop but my mind went blank with the avoidance!
I was told that it's perfectly in order to ask the examiner what speed they recorded on each run at those exercises, so even when they accept you've done enough on anything that takes you through the speed trap and give you the next task - ASK, what was my speed?
If nothing else, it helps you to remember that there is a speed requirement as well as the control one. I take it that they gave you two shots at it? They should definitely have told you first time what speed you achieved if they said they wanted you to do it again.
You know you CAN, it just has to all come together and I'm sure it will next time.
I did DAS also, failed my first test TAB, foot down on the U turn, was gutted, but didnt give up and got it second go !!
So carry on, remember you promised yourself RTTW under your own steam.
Had to weld up the stress fractures on 2 of my pannier frame brackets so my luggage doesn`t part company with me at the end of the week on the way up to the far north. Also modified my chain oiler feed for better angle. Not long now!
Put stubby back on the bandit fitted new horns and front screen then discovered collector box exhaust clamp only half of it there so new one ordered , thought it was bit loud lol ,
