Must be something in the air, Wenders !! My old mum managed to stand up without a hoist for the first time today...soon be ready for mischief again!! Brilliant news of your dad too
Thinking about good times gone by, recent and not so recent. I have been compiling music from the 80's. The sort of music that was played in the old type disco bars in Greece, probably the same for other places, but Greece in those days was a special time for me. Living on the beach, parties, dancing, meeting all sorts of people and other stuff I won't go into. In 1984 I drove there in an old Maxi which cost me £140. I did the basics on the car loaded up and drove off into the sunrise with my daughter, new girlfriend and two of her friends. It took two days of hard driving only stopping to eat and a quick kip here and there. I had the best 2 months of my life, a hoilday to remember.
The old Maxi had a cracked block and gave a lot of problems, overheating and burning oil. I used 25 litres of oil over the 5000 miles I drove and came back with only half an exhaust system. I still used that car for work for another two years before scapping it.
Sorry I do go on a bit
memories that will last for ever David, treasure them.
Its wonderful how music triggers off these things.Powerful stuff.
Sarah an I have many such 'triggers' stored away for our 'mature' years and I am sure we will be old and grey listening to these tunes in the future but soo alive inside with the memories they bring back.
