For work unfortunately no, unless all companies I deal with do likewise. For personal use, yes, but what about BM and the like.
Do you, or can you still calculate without the aid of a machine?
A Dell something in around 1998. Computers came late into my life.
I remember though on of my Bosses about 1989 bringing his all singing and dancing computer into work sayin this was the revolution and make life much easier. B*****ks we all thought, but how right he was.
Apple or Microsoft?
Going back to that last question. My 1st computer was a Sinclair ZX81 with a staggering 4K of RAM, with the option to increase to 16k WOW! I had a book on how to write programs in BBC basic language, which I worked my way through and it all made sense at the time. There was very little software available at the time, simple games, loaded by cassette and the screen had to be a TV. That was about 1980'ish. In 1987 I started acompany with my brother inlaw and we decided we needed a computer, we didn't know what for, but we needed one all the same. We got an Amstrad 1640, plugged it in and stared at it for about two days and occasionaly we gingerly touched one of the keys before jumping back and waiting for something to happen. Well of course nothing happened appart from C:\. We came to realise that software might also be handy as working in MSdos was getting us nowhere. But what software was the question, as we didn't actually know what we wanted this gadget for. Alan Micheal Sugar didn't explain that one! A friend who new some stuff about these things loaded Word perfect and the original Excel and showed us what we could do with it. There was no Windows at the time, or shoould I say we did not have Windows, so every thing had to work through MSdos. Anyway after a while we managed to put it all to use and I have never looked back, until now.
Bl**dy heck, i have gone on a bit.
Sorry what was the question? Oh yes:-
Microsoft. If I were into graphic design it would be Apple Mac.
Have you ever had to work without Windows software?
I started work using a pencil, with books that had columns in. Though they had invented the electric computer so I didn't need beads on a string. Then there was Supercalc - preceded MS Excel. On a computer screen that was black with orange writing. Supposed to be better for your eyes
If money were no object, would you take holidays abroad - or at home?
Marston's chicken on Leeds Road in Huddersfield. Totally delicious and always cooked through properly with a fantastic selection of dips - including the hottest chilli (just blended chillies) and the most garliccy garlic mayo
