Would it be possible to have a pop-up alert for when you get a PM, say, if you're in the chatroom?
Cause otherwise, u have to keep flitting in and out to check for msgs. I know it tells you if you are browsing the forum but if you are engrossed in chat, it would be useful.
I have to agree jackie, you are trying....very!! lol
Just a small suggestion from me,how about banning text speak? I read English and find any other sort of language a bit difficult
how about people stop using the phrase "must be slim" as i and im sure other larger ladies on here find it deeply hurtfull!!!!. after all i havnt asked >> no beer bellys, baldys or grey hair!!!! come on guys use some tact.
Quite agree Boody from a baldy................................ How about putting a symbol against peoples names to let them know if they are viewing a male or female.......It would stop me appearing Gay for a start to all the machos looking for a woman..............Nothing against being gay, I'm not, but I don't mind making male friends for ride outs etc. How about: M=male seeking women F=female seeking men B=Bikers seeking buddies Add B to either F or M showing that they are happy to have biker buddies as well as possible relationships
I'm with pondlife on this one. Ban text speak and campaign for better literacy. I can understand why text speak developed on mobile phones but when you have a full keyboard in front of you, there's no need for it. We all make typos and misspellings but let's not have deliberate text speak.
To a degree I agree with sdv9r. I can't be bothered with computer games but if there are enough folk who want to play them who am I to stand in the way?
Hey your right drobes, I've never looked on Full Search before and it's amazing what you can 'suit' your personal requirements to. Surely it's what's inside a person rather than their profession, residence, size, bike they ride, etc that counts though...
I like Mels idea, B=Bikers seeking buddies, as well as pond suggesting not to use text speak on here, I don't use it normally on my mobile and can't understand it either anyway.... anyone who gets a text off me will notice it goes on for ages and ages..........
Di if u have MSN and ur logged in u get a pop up to say u have a pm
I find it quite funny to read sum folks profile and see that they have put slim ladies only or has to be good looking, i nod em anyway just to give em a shock lol
Jackie,you are due a slap!
Nutkin,I always make a point when I send a text of including all punctuation marks, capital letters where required and using proper grammar. I bet people think I'm nuts lol
If that's the level of literacy to which we're descending, then it's not surprising that the United Kingdom is heading towards becoming a Third World country. A lot of people are already unable to distinguish between to, too and two; there, their and they're and similar words with the same sound. So if we degenerate to text speak we've got no chance.
As I have put in my signature in another forum, "I'm not your M8. That's a motorway in Scotland." No 'lol' because I regard literacy as a serious issue.
And I always thought my M8 was a metric fastener. Dare I risk an LOL?
I wouldn't be too hard on text speak and all the rest, though. Chat rooms, forums (or even fora) and mobile phones were the stuff of science fiction when many of us were at school. It's a measure of our own adaptabilty that we have developed so instinctively a style of communication to fit the media at our disposal.
The real test is for us to switch back to normal language when we have to. I suspect most of us can: after all the first requirement is to be able to communicate. Or even communiK8.
When I was at school, literacy was very important, punctuation, spelling etc. It was important to be able to write letters correctly so that job applications were legible, and how they were writen, gave a pretty good insight into your level of education, and may be the difference between getting or not getting a job!!. I use some text speak when on the mobile, but in general I like to make the effort to write proper like
