Yep, most definitely gotta be Kashmir, Led Zep. It evokes great memories about fab people and good times. It will be my funeral song. I love it sooo much!
Space Dust ... as a kid, i remember it being awesome, crackling n popping for what seemed like hours. Now its a disappointing fizzle which is over in a second and it has been renamed ...Popping Candy ...wtf??!!
At what age did you start reminiscing about past times? (My daughter, aged 21, was looking back through her primary, junior and high school reports and high school yearbook last night. It was great to see her enthusiasm and memories of school, even if it was only a short time ago!)
yes I have. (ive never really planned things before because I always change my mind, just take things as they come. but for retiring ive got it all worked out, and I cant wait. I'm ready to retire now. just crossing my fingers i'll last that long.) but I'm not telling you lot
Well in my house I cook from scratch 98% of the time and my daughter (21) is at uni and does the same, in fact she is a whizz. She comes home occasionally and i get treated to loads of lovely home made/cooked meals. Fabulous. Neither of us go to the lengths my Gran used to; a day for bread making, one for pies (sweet n savoury) and one for cakes. Oh Lord those were the days, i used to love coming home from school to find all manner of loveliness in the kitchen *sighs wistfully*
Although when i go shopping most folks seem to have trollies full of ready meals. Perhaps the 'art' IS dying due to convenience, cos it sure as heck isnt taste.
My childhood memories also contain those of my Gran sitting darning my Grandad's socks, knitting jumpers/cardies/scarves et al and sewing anything and everything. Unfortunately i can only just manage to sew a button back on a garment.
Do you know anyone who still makes/alters/repairs their clothes or bedding/curtains? (I only know one now, a previous neighbour)
Nope. My mother made almost everything for us as kids (in the 'olden days' Linz, when I was wee, they didn't have off-the-peg like they do now, pmsl - but I mostly grew up abroad). I've dabbled in dressmaking but it takes me ages to finish anything and I always find fault in what I made.
In the absence of anyone stepping forward to admit to having plans, and with Valentine's day over but Leap Day still to come, I'll have to confess; no, no plans, live for the moment.
To my friends who did announce their engagement on the 14th - a massive congratulations. We'll pop a cork with you very soon.
Clear all the snow off the car in the morning or set off with a 'mattress topper'?
Im just watching the tv adaptation of The Shannara Chronicles by Terry Brooks, and wonder whether anyone thinks that there is an adaptation of any book they have read that was as good as the written word?
Sadly, none come to mind. The imagination is such a unique thing that two, three, even 1000 people reading the read book will all have different pictures in their heads, besides which something is always added or left out and not often for the better.
