I like hearing the crackling on vinyl even if it means its a bit damaged it still sounds more real to me.

Listening to (not on vinyl sadly) ELO ... 'A New World Record'

Yes! ... Yes love them haven't listened to them in a wee while, I see even Lady Gaga sampled them in one of her songs, in ' The Fame' she sampled 'Owner of a Lonely Heart'

Loved Jon Anderson's song on Mike Oldfield's Crises album ..'In High Places'

Murdoch what do you think of the Tubular Bells 2003 album, it is almost like a remastered version and totally sublime IMO, I was very sceptical til I heard it as I know the original cannot be topped, but this enhances it beautifully....

There is also a fella by the name of Claudio Simonetti who composes music for some horror films, he has composed a song called 'Tabular Bells' (L'esorcista) which is a faithful rendition of the intro of Oldfield's album

Soz meant to say it is a bit of a mix of the Intro maybe not a 'faithful' one ... 'tis interesting tho' :)
