Sick of folk moaning about all the events in the midlands well get off you feckin ass a put on local events all we see is lets do a camp here lets have a camp there but no feckin local events unless you unfortunately live in the Birmingham area
Well don't I seem foolish for organising the anglesey thing last week end....Maybe the trip I organised before that doesn't count either.....or the one before that......must try harder to get off my fecking ass!
Now the question is do I bother waiting to see if anyone replies to my query thread with regard to a weekend trip to Gower in 2014 (JP, I believe you said it was too far in advance to know what you were doing) or do i just spend a whole lot of time finding out the camping fees and availability, trips out only to find out that no-one is actually interested?
Well you seem to think that was about your camp so lets look at the events local to Manchester ????? None same as most areas so why do members bitch and moan because we go out and invite other along. Answers on a post card to BM Events team
Actually we have had a couple Manchester events, but obviously not enough and I can assure you the riding is crap central manchester.
I apologise for taking your post a bit personal, its just that I have put a lot of effort into trying to make the trips out enjoyable (with a lot of help from those who know the routes) and also pming new members in the North West and Wales area and inviting them along.
RB you will find that folk cant commit to far in advance. My work holidays start March 2014, so I cant put any holiday forms in for passed that until the new year, assume others have the same sort of problems.
The way I look at it is as long as its somewhere, something I want to do anyway if a few folk turn up great or shed loads great, but it doesn't matter cos I wanna be there anyhow, hope that makes sense lol
I think it is always worthwhile to organise an event and it doesn't matter how many attend. If I only see half a dozen smiling faces and a little bit of positive feedback, then it's worth it. I try to attend events in all areas if possible, but as BJ says, work can get in the way and sometimes dictate ones movements, so to speak.
We have to continue trying to get things moving in all parts of the UK where everyone is welcomed (which it seems they always are) if they are prepared to ride the distance. To me a bike rally is all about the ride and if in a different region all the better
I will add. The midlands crew organise some brilliant rallies and well done to them for the effort.
Here we go again.
Yet another row on this site I for one am sick of the petty narrow mindedness of some folk on here who just don't think before they post. If I wanted to listen to constant moaning and rowing I would have got married
LOL JP, but try living in Scotland. Nothing by way of meet-ups going on up here (though I will make more effort myself next year - this year I was just settling in and finding my feet) and for trips away, camping etc - well the point is to get away from your own doorstep for a bit. I don't moan about all the events down there - I'm jealous of you guys having the community that puts them on and I'd love to know what works for you and what doesn't and how to start pulling a group together up here - if anyone wants to pitch in with some positive comments [tho' maybe not on this 'sad/unhappy' thread - which I apologise for hi-jacking!] xx
