Cassie asks: What do you want from biker match, what would you like to see happening on this site??
I'd like folk not to post in the forum if it's not meant for everyone to see. That way when I ask 'what's it about?' I won't be told not to read it cos it's not intended for me. If that's not cliquey I'd like to know what is.
I'd also like for threads to be left and not deleted just because folk disagree with each other.
This is the only site I know of that deletes topics cos folk disagree with each other. I find that very immature.
None of the debates we have on here have ever got abusive or racist so I see no need for deletion. Censorship too far IMHO.
I'd also like not to be slated for having an opinion, even if it's different to the majority.
i agree 100pct kwak removing threads is the worst thing you can do on any forum and should be an absolute last resort. i have no idea what has been going on coz ive been on nights so not been here much. one thing i do know if u say something it should stay said
Could i just remind folk that i started this thread because i was interested in what others wanted from BM.So far only one person has answered that question, others just seem to want to argue the toss again.C'mon peeps, simple enough question
So many things to respond to here.
Ok, mods treat everyone the same. A post is just a post, whoever you are. If your post is deleted then you WILL receive a message/warning/advice from the moderator who removed it via PM.
If you do not, you can always send a message to the moderators via the contact page and ask why it was removed. Mods do NOT have to give a reason, but I've never known them to refuse to give an explanation.
Do NOT come moaning to me every 5 minutes though, I don't have the time. Please consult the moderators first about why your post was removed. If you're not satisfied with your answer, then you may ask me and I'll look into it. I'm not the middle-man for moderator emails though.... just ask them yourself (they don't bite much. Well, frag does. lol ;)
Regarding the atmosphere... i DO believe that there are a few nusances here, mainly a handful of newbies. There's seems to be a dedicated bunch of complainers who are just looking to cause trouble all the time. I'm sick to death of the patronising, sarcastic and antagonising comments being posting by some of the newbies and I'm not allowing it anymore. The moderators were asked by me 2 days ago to clamp down on these few idiots and to stop all the bitching (Why? Because it IS noticed by people who DO stop subscribing. Not to mention the guests who don't bother creating an account when they see how the regulars are behaving).
From now on there will be a lot more posts being removed. You may feel that we're going Over the top, but it's a short-term necessity in order to clean up the junk and bitchiness in the forums and to bring the site back to it's former glory.
The moderators and myself are dealing with a lot of S&*# recently, almost entirely caused by newbies and moaners. We're all run off our feet dealing with petty little issues, for members on and off the site. People who've been in relationships gone bad, someone said this, he did that, she wont do this. There's LOTS of this behind the scenes that most of you never hear about! We see what individuals put on the forums and WE know the background. Hence we delete some 'seemingly harmless' posts but when you know what's going on behind closed doors then you know why... and we don't always share our explanations publicly. Just accept it.
And I don't want to hear people complaining about posts being deleted one day, then the next day complaining about all the sarcastic and nasty posts in the forum. I will be closely watching and reviewing the new policies to ensure the site IS cleaned up (And hopefully the odd 1 or 2 idiots will go away!).
Regarding people's "right" to post/reply to other personal threads... of course you can. But with respect, courtesy and good manners. If your post is aggressive or rude then of course it will be removed. So lets please stop thinking that moderators are just deleting nice, friendly replies BECAUSE THEY DONT! Each post will be considered individually and a moderator can decide what he/she wants to do with it.
Entire topics will also be deleted if they turn into slagging matches and look like they're going nowhere. We don't want a site full of fighting like the other biker sites as we don't want all current members (and potential newbies) to be scared off. It's my decision (As the owner of the site) how I want the site to be, and if I don't want junk/bitchy topcis on the forums then they will be removed. The moderators act under my 'policies' if you like. They know what I want in the forums and how I want them to be. 1 or 2 of you may not like the way it's run, but I can assure you that for ever 1 person who wants the bitching on the forums there will be 1,000 people who DON'T want it. Hence we have a brilliant reputation here as being a friendly, welcoming site. Everyone knows us as a friendly site. That's because we DONT allow all the agressive posting that other sites contain and its how I want my site to be
Those complainaing about topics being deleted... you're wrong! It certainly IS in the best interest of the site to delete the 'discussions gone sour'.
It's my choice as the owner of the site that I don't want this nonsense on my forums. This is how we keep the site's reputation of being welcoming and friendly.
Topics and posts aren't just deleted cos one person disagrees, so stop talking s**t! If you all knew how much crap we have to deal with then you'd know why some posts are removed, and it's not because of a clique or because we don't want debate!
I personally START new topics that I want debating. It's when friendly, happy topics get nasty that the topic is removed (only if we can delete one post then we will. However, if it's been dragged on into a fight then we just delete the lot).
It's rare that we delete topics, and even the moderators shy away from doing so. I usually call the shots when deleting entire threads. If you don't like my decisions, then you know where the other biker sites are. Go have your tantrums elsewhere.
