made me sad and angry that a lad I work with has just got his first bike, had no protective gear other than his lid, so gave him a spare full armoured Shoei jacket I had, only for him to pull up at work IN A T-SHIRT !!!! He said the jacket was in his backpack I said a fat lot of good it will do you in there!!! He said it's too warm...... I said WELL TAKE THE DAMN LINING OUT THEN OH says he ....derrrrrrrr ...........I said if I see you without it again ... I WILL MAIM YOU MYSELF ... rant over sheesh KIDS !!!!! I am so on his case now
Good on ya Anne .... I was at squires on Wed and saw similar from riders and pillies ... Women trying to look good in leggins and strappy shoes whilst pilly ... Not gonna look good with no foot or leg if comes off !!!
You can't teach the stupid.
I've had a bloke turn up for a cbt, hear the chat on protective gear, not get though the cbt and turned up the following week in t-shirt and shorts.
Whilst riding home yesterday I was slowing down as I knew the lights ahead would change before I got there (had a police car following so played safe) when a dog not on it's lead flew out towards me, barking and snarling, I swerved to avoid it but instinctively kicked it away catching it's shoulder and the police man thought I had broken it's leg :-(
It's not helped that the police officers said I was in the right, and they said the woman could be charged with not keeping the dog under control, they even asked if i wanted the dog destroying as it had attacked me ... I know if i had not acted it would have had me off the bike, it was a bloomin big thing, and even fully protected would have been hurt or worse as it was a busy road.... But ..... I've hurt a dog cos it's owner was too bloody stupid to keep it under control :-(
If an inexperienced rider had been following you Shell & the animal had taken them off their bike & they were subsequently injured by the dog or following traffic, would you still feel sorrow for the animal?
It,s irresponsible owner caused it's injuries not you...

I didn't half (verbally) lay into the owner Last night, she had the nerve to hit me for hurting the dog, not that I felt it with my jacket on.
I know what your saying Dave, I think in that situation I would have been more than verbal to the owner
