I'll second that Dips. I've lost a little weight since learning to ride but more than that, I've built up some much needed muscles - I'm not quite the WWW anymore (World's Weakest Woman as nicknamed by a friend).

Big smile on my face, I just got an email confirmation of the first B&B booking of my tour of Scotland on bikes in July with Debbie from Leeds. Have sent off for Wildcat Rally tickets @ John O Groats... I have been checking out the ferry for the trip over to the Orkneys & Shetlands, I have always wanted to go to the Orkneys,, and it is starting to look like i might just make it this Year. (all those Standing Stones)
Back off to surf the net for more campsites and B&B's,
OOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOO i wont, me n flowers, frills, lacey things, any dresses, dont mix, i look like a bloke in drag. if i went t village fete it would be a riot, watch peeps stare n guess what it is....answers on a postcard, lol
lmfao .. im with you on that one..
me - dresses , frilly flowery things... haha
Puds,, you will enjoy Wildcats, I went last year, had a reet laff, the locals in 'the pub' are brilliant too, had us in stitches.
Not to mention the roads up there and back, went a different way back down.. awesome!
Laughing my head off at the idea of Chunkichick in a frilly flowery dress. (sorry CC, but just cant see ya in one)
Karey, I am sure I will enjoy the Wildcats rally, as long as there is VODKA, Hehe,, is it to early in the morning to be thinking about Vodka... only joking,,,,, I know the route I am taking up the rally, just not planned the route home yet,, thats if i come back lol, might meet a sexy Scotish man,,, haha, but there again men in kilts (whooooooooops must get back to work)
Its never too early for Vodka!! lol
We went up the east and came back down through Glencoe, loch lomond, loch ness etc, can't remember the exact route, ( me+geog/directions=disaster) lol
I remember the weather was a bit bleak up there tho, considering it was July, when we went down to have a look at the famous signpost and it was grey and drizzly and overcast, and as we set off for home it was fine rain and drizzle. So take your w/proofs just in case.
Karrey Glad it not just me and the Vodka then, Hehe
Route so far, from Salford, up M6, to the Lakes, stop off for a break, then up to Moffat, for the night. just going to take it steady, and enjoy ride, stop off and take picture etc, eat drink and relax, Then from Moffat the A701, towards Edinburgh, then over to Queenferry, stop off for more pictures, Then the M90 / A9 to Pitlochry for the night. Up the A9 to John 0' Groats, (about 500 miles) Stop off at rally, get very drunk, (VODKA mmmmmmmm) then over to Orkneys and Shetlands for a few days, Then head home, not planned route back, but must go via loch Ness, if anyone has any great routes to take home please PM lol
I'd recommend the route Karey took (I suspect) Puds.
Down the same way as you went up until you get to Inverness, then down to Fort William going past Loch Ness, across Glen Coe and then down the west side of Loch Lomond to Glasgow.
From here you can either follow the motorway to Carlisle, or if you have time I'd recommend the A76 through Kilmarnock and Dumfries.
And yes, I'd concur; take the waterproofs and thermals. Things you can take off and put on fairly quickly really. There's a saying about the Highlands; if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes!
Puds,
There's loads of "Best Biking Roads" type web sites around, and scotland gets a mention in lots of them.
May be worth getting a list of recommended rides, stringing them together and seeing what comes out the other side!
Some of the "recommended rides" in France that we went on were great!
ianhg1971, lol Yep i did mention Vodka...... do ya want me to say it again VODKA
geoffb2005, I have already done fort william, Glen coe & down the side of loch lomond, Kilmarnock and Dumfries, it is really nice,,,, but might ended up doing it again lol thanks you, for the sugestion,, xxx Will make sure thermals & waterproofs are packed,
Bandit_Mr_P, I have been checking out the sites, there are so many, my poor head is spinning,
Now have even bigger smile, cant wait to go,
Having my own garden to sit in for the first time in about 6 years, no sharing with the neighbours, ALL MINE!!! Wooo oooo
Thankful for ear plugs with my music cos a few neighbours are having building work done. It's like living with MARLEY construction lol
