Well done Stella, I've had a bike from the same dealer many years ago. Good choice of bike and the top box (if its a modern one) should detach from the rack using the lid key.
I'd keep it on so you can stick you're lid in it when you go and buy lady things....
lol Jim - yep it's a modern one & it detatches - only thing is, i've removed it from the rack & can't get it back on now & also can't get the thing to lock!!!
OH - BTW - IT'S ARRIVED YEEEEEHAAAAAAAAA
Shame the weather's naff!!!...oh & I also can't get it on the centre stand..grrrrrr.......it's probably me not doing it right due to overenthusiasm lol
Congrats HFG!!!
Now you have that very crucial bonding stage to get through... look after her and she will look after you...
I wish you many happy miles together!
Congrats HFG on your first bike!
As for me joining your merry little gang....I keep dithering....I've spoken to another friend today who has said go for it and has also recommended the DAS route if I can afford it.
I guess I need to get my finger out and attempt the CBT first - everything else may end up being a moot point.
I shall make some enquires.
Roachy go for it - I'd been dithering for years!!! I Actually started to do my Direct access a number of years ago & threw me toys out of the pram. But then when Karey booked her CBT I thought sod it, I can do this & went & did me CBT.
Am now gonna get some practice on me new baby & then prob do a restricted test in the new year - hopefully before March when the new test is **allegedly** coming in!
Awwww - hope you and your new baby have many adventures together HFG :o)
Roachy: I was adamant I was going for DAS, not for me, faffing around on a 125 in Sarf Lundun traffic! But when it came to doing the CBT, it became quickly apparent that I'm going to need a lot more practice... I reckon I'd be wrapped around the nearest lamppost if I went straight to a bigger bike.
Your CBT instructor should give you an honest opinion whether they think you're a suitable candidate for DAS or not, so book a CBT first for a taster and take it from there :o)
WB - that's exactly what I plan to do. I've made enquiries today about DAS courses and what happens if you decide it's not for you after doing the CBT (most of them seem to include the CBT as part of the DAS course but I have been told by an instructor friend to book the CBT seperately from the training course).
My Dad has a GPZ500 sat around doing nothing that I could possibly borrow if I do DAS. It certainly seems to make more sense to chuck the money at a DAS course than a 125cc of my own but as you quite rightly point out, I may not be up to it or even want to do it!
I await the answer to my enquiries but I feel a CBT in my waters.
Sorry Stella to hijack your thread.
I'm sure HFG won't mind in the slightest - you're about to become a fully fledged FFS girlie! ;o)
Going to take me a while longer as all remaining and any future BLAB Fund savings will have to be used to pay my bills for 2 months while I'm not earning and recovering from my hysterical job. GGGGggggrrrrrrrr!!!
WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - have just bought a Suzy GN125
Any other recomandations for good insurance??
Nice one HG, hope you have loads of fun riding your bike and safe journeys always.
As for insurance it's trial and error. I first insured with Carole Nash but when it came to the following years they kept increasing the premiums so I shopped around and insured with ebike (only on line tho) £35 cheaper for exact same cover. I advise that you always shop around when it comes to renewal, don't stick with your first insurer.
Also don't pay the premiums in instalments as I was charged £25 extra just to take the money from my bank account and enter it into theirs.
Check that there isn't a minimum mileage for breakdown cover too, some companies may not recover your bike if it's only a few miles away from home but it's no joke trying to PUSH a bike no matter how short the journey.
Even more of a nitemare when the wheels won't go round. (my bike got struck in rush hour traffic on the brow of a hill, wheels locked so I couldn't push it out of the way, it was only about half a mile from home but luckily I was covered for recovery)
So best to ask the company if they recover no matter where you break down.
".....By the way prescriptions ain't free in Scotland!...."
Soz Cassie, cudda sworn they were.. or at least for chronic illness? or theyre campaigning hard for it?! ... Well Wales definately get them free ...lol
Heyyyyy Stella.. hows the new baby? have u been out yet? started her up? polished her? lol
You will havta get a pic on your profile !
Kwak - ended up getting insurance from Bennetts - they were the cheapest all round.
Kaz - nope not been out on her yet!!! grrrrr.....been working & then of course it's too dark by the time I get home! Hope to get out for at least an 'ickle spin this weekend - so long as it dosn't snow (which it's forecast to do on Sunday!)
Managed to get her on the centre stand though!!! I'm sure it wasn't as hard when I did my CBT!!!!
Once I can get her out I'll get some piccies up - got to have her in the nice scenery rather than just piccies of her in the garage
I'll try to do the special Wannabe nekkid sun dance around the standing stones for you HFG... but I can't make any guarantees this week... the dancin's not up to scratch at the mo ;o)
Congrats HFG now it all starts for you lol! Try EBike - I found they were cheaper than most of the others and also threw in AA cover too! You could always do a comparison search on the internet to make sure that's the case for you, just for your own satisfaction but for me, EBike were the best for my first 125cc learner bike up to my current HD Sportster that I have now. I wish you lots of luck and enjoyment, get out as much as possible for practice and experience in between your lessons and ride safely and within your limitations. There's nothing quite like it out there on your own bike and once you've passed your test.................the world's your oyster as they say................I've never looked back and wouldnt give it up now for the world!!! Take care, ride safe and keep the shiny side up always
Sandy
