Very mixed feelings about this weekend coming, I'm off to visit the ex-wife as its her 57th birthday on Saturday. Thing is, she's just completed the first year of a minimum 25 year jail sentence. Just how the hell do you wish somebody a Happy Birthday in that situation? Common sense suggests she isn't ever walking out of there

A bit wistful...Saturday would have been my dad's birthday, and even though he was 81 when he died, I always wish he could have had a few more years to chew the fat about old bikes - he had flat tank Nortons and a Brough back in the day - and meet his grandchildren.
Silly, really. So many of his friends and family hardly got started in life, thanks to assorted wars. Maybe we should be grateful for what we've got or had.
