I feel for you DC - there comes a time when you end up having to do a bit of role reversal with your folks and give them some support in return for all theirs over the years...
Just don't forget about yourself in the process... If you're running around looking after everyone else, you need looking after too! It's taken 3 years for me to finally crack, after being the glue that's held my family together... and the really stupid thing is I could've let go of some of the pressure a LONG time ago... My sister's been an absolute diamond!
You've got some good buddies on here (& elsewhere I'm sure!) - use them! Offload when you can, so you can be there for your Dad. xx
Thanks WB, thing is i dont know how to support him. He's ex army and very proud, thats the frustrating thing. But after a long chat with a good friend, i'm feeling much more positive now
It's really tough finding ways to support them - that pride gets you every time! Practical stuff is often the only way you can do it... and never mentioning the times they DO let themselves go and show you their emotions... pride again ;o)
I've found a good way is to present them with a done deal... I know it's a different situation, but as an example I'll drop round a load of shopping and pretend I got a load of "BOGOF" deals and don't want the food to go to waste... Or I'll get on with my Mum's washing while she's seeing to Dad... Just generally helping out and having the job done before they can say "Oh there's no need" ;o)
Good on your friend! That's what they're there for. Long live the positive feelings xx
Thanks for that last post cassie (see latest PM also)
On a sadder note just heard about the passing of Natasha Richardson
Poor Liam he must be in bits!! I really feel for him, he thought the world of her ......
At times like this we should remember the living, even whilst we mourn those who have passed.
Uncle Steve passed away last night. His wife and children were with him and my dad had only left him an hour before. It was very peaceful. He will be sadly missed, he was the life and soul of my dads family. RIP Uncle Steve
Sounds like you're avin a ruff trot CC, some people have no respec for other peoples hardware

Made me sad to hear of Jade Goodys passing away this morning..
Love or hate her, it's still very sad moreso the fact that it's Mother's Day and she has left behind two little boys, as well as all her family.
I think we have all been touched by cancer at some point.
RIP Jade
