Ok so i've been asked to make it possible to upload multiple files.
At the same im working on having a progress-bar also.
I need to know how many of you would oppose having to install an ActiveX script, like you do for facebook.
Please let me know if you would prefer to have a very small ActiveX component installed in order to upload multiple files (even entire folders!) and have a progress bar
Is it really necessary to upload quite so many photos though? If you have 20 attendees at an event and each of them upload 60+ photos, it all gets a bit silly... plus there's shedloads of duplication.
I know you want more photos posted, but do you really want that many more?! I surely can't be the only one who loses the will after the first 20 or so?
I think, where a rally is concerned, and we've 3+ days of fun and frolicks... especially with a Birthday RV in the midst, it's gonna be the case that people upload a lot. I did 28 I think... others more.
On a standard "ride out" sort of event, I wouldn't expect to upload more than 3 or 4, but even then a batch upload is a bonus.
I didn't get bored after about 20... but then for me it's happy memories.
Active x is fine with me too.
I can see yr point Lou, although people that upload that many obviously havent had enough to drink......I always forget to take photos when under the influence(providing i remember to take the bloomin camera out with me)
I am ok with ActiveX too.
It would make it a lot easier no matter how many your uploading 10 or 60
Like Ian I love to look through the photos & say ... with a big grin ... ahhh yeah I remember that
Oh I agree that a batch upload is really helpful, but even on events I've been to, it drives me nuts seeing 3 or 4 nearly identical pics of the same thing taken by different people!
I'm really selective with photos - I'll take shedloads if I'm in camera mode, but only save the best. It's just a personal thing.
Like DC, I usually forget to take it out in the first place! Too busy enjoying taking part in things to take a step back and photograph it
ActiveX is fine by me too..
I agree with Lou, if photos are duplicated it can be a pain.. but also if you attended the event..then you like to see ALL the photos lol
Steph, I'm with you.. i had wayyyyyyyyy to much to drink to even think about my camera
im struggling to find a good activex component to use... they all require a truck-load of junk scripts to be installed on the server, and im not prepared to do that (Especially as all the demos i've found so far have been from small chinese software companies).
I am sure you will find something Matt ... you always do !!!
I have to say the speed at which you handle things for members & upgrades etc etc, along with the friends I have made, made renewing my membership an easy choice.
Your great keep it up
ok im about to give up on this now. ActiveX is out of the question now. I either have to purchase a script (and i can't find any suitable to fit into the existing code) or make my own... which i can't do (Unless i had a team working on it 24/7 for several weeks like facebook can).
I'm trying to just enable more upload boxes but it's proving impossible also due to the upload size (Your connection to the site gets dropped after so much data is uploaded). The existing code also depends on you uploading one single file, because it uses this input to change your profile pic, register in the database, etc.
I really can't get anything working so far.... and the sun is shining outside
the progress bar is so far a failure too, cos all the 'security' features in the latest browsers block the popups and interaction between windows etc.
The good thing with the current setup... is that it's basic and guarenteed to work. Results in less people complaining to me about it not working too.

Get your backside out there and enjoy it then - a break from the screen will do a world of good The system works well enough and if people want to upload shedloads of pics, they'll just have to exercise a little patience as usual. Not a problem.
