Does any one go to the Ace often and do they hold regular British Bike nights?Trying to help someone who would like to find out about riding a British bike who is short in the leg? Phil I know bit of a strange question (:
The Ace has gone downhill, its quite a shite hole now. Friday nights got closed down due to 'anti social behaviour', (read that as moped riders wheeling up and down the road outside), its open only till 6pm now. The food quality is extremely poor and the prices are extremely high (well isnt everything now). Last time i went there, which was only a few months back the food served was cold in the middle. If you ever went to Rykas before it was taken over then think, crap gristle ridden burgers and grease with everything, well that's the Ace now, perhaps the Chef moved on from Rykas. :) So if you want a venue that's not a million miles away from the Ace, go to Rykas in Dorking (but depends on where you are travelling from obviously). Its open till 8 most nights, later on bike nights, the food is very good, has a proper Pizza oven and good pizzas as well as the usual fare. Weekdays during the day its quite chilled, bike night and weekends gets pretty busy but the queues move quickly, they have it sorted there.
To say the Ace Cafe gone down hill means it must have been up the hill at some point. I went there the first week when it opened back up in full back in 2001 and not just the burger van in the car park when the food was a little better. And the food was crap and over priced then
