Set in Kelso’s Union Borders Showground on the banks of the river Tweed, its location in the Border’s fantastic biking country has made this a sure-fire draw for many from both north and south of the border.
Following feed -back from last year’s event, more emphasis is being put on the camping aspects this year with gates open from 14.00 on Friday 8th July. (For the day visitors gates open from 09.00 – 17.00, Saturday and Sunday).
Bikes, entertainment, music and the camaraderie that is motorcycling make Kelso Bikefest what it is, but the roads of the Borders region just beg to be sampled and explored too and what better way to do this than take part in the ride out planned for the Saturday afternoon courtesy of local BMF representatives.
For those camping there’ll be live music on Friday Saturday evenings from top bands Alma Fiera Kick Piledriver and Guns 4 Hire, plus two other special ‘guest’ bands yet to be confirmed.
A Best in Show competition has always been a star feature and with entrants currently standing at over 40 and cash prizes up for grabs to class winners, this year will be no exception.
There’ll be plenty of trade stalls too including George White, Beowulf, City of Leather, Fat Skeleton, Old Clee Custom and Proto to name but a few plus a fun fair and main arena entertainment including Zero Gravity and the ever popular Kelso Pipe Band.
NEW for 2011 will be traditional club games with a knock-out round on Saturday and the Grand final on Sunday. Add in a beer tent with live music (in addition to the evening bands in the main hall) and the BMF’s Kelso Bikefest is a ‘rally’ great event!
