I have a pair of 70's Lewis Leathers "Soft Top" racing boots
The boots themselves are in very good condition
But sadly one of the zips is past it's best
Does anyone know of a reliable, reputable, zip replacement service
I'm am loathe to entrust them to an unknown repairer
I've had them a long time now, they are like an old trusted friend
I wouldn't want them ruined by some "ham fisted" cobbler
Any "sensible" * suggestions would be gratefully received

Hi Emzed.
May I suggest that if you are doing any of the bigger rallies that you take them with you. There is often a seamstress atthese rallies, usually for sticking patches to leather waistcoats and to do sewing repairs.
Just a thought
Cheers for the suggestion BL
I had thought about taking them to the Valley
Anything after that might be too late to have them ready for a track day ( ie FYP )
I was just "testing the water" to see if anyone knew of a good repair service
fraid dont know of any specific Emz...... took my leathers to cmc bike shop when it was powersports and they did them well for me......
how about bikers gearbox? jusa thought as they make all their own gear... dunno if they would do it or how much would charge etc bt you might be able to ring and ask em?
Thanks Suz, I might give BG a ring but I doubt that they will tackle "boot" zips
It does require a specialist stitching machine for the job
But they may know of a reputable repairer
There is a place in brum by the outdoor market that do alterations to jackets or a made to order jacket / jeans if you get to Mablethourp take them with you and ask BJ to drop them over
See my post Steve
I don't trust High street cobblers
Which is why I was asking for "recommendations"
And JP, a special stitching machine is needed to put boot zips in properly m8
Unlike jackets and trousers
But thanks for the input guys

Thought about Bikers Gearbox,Matlock mate? They hand made a jacket for my youngest a brilliant job,no seams or zip trouble at all,BUT it was 20 years ago, they can,t still be in business tho if standards have dropped.
Whoops sorry,didn't see Susi's post.
