Information from MCN wesbite http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/Gene...cked-loan/ Now while I'm all for resurgence of British brands (hell - If I'd won the lottery I would have set up a factory building small bikes under the BSA name). How many times has Norton resurfaced, then died a death and disappeared into the Ether? Probably controversial but why isn't there more plaudits for Triumph which has grown from strength to strength since John Bloor took it on and is now the UKs top vehicle manufacturer - selling more units then just about all the top 10uk vehicle producers put together. "This scheme will not only benefit Norton and the local area, by supporting enterprising firms across the country it will help drive forward the British economy." Just how will it do that with Norton, as when the new owner took it on, he completely scaled down the size and type of production when he bought the tooling and equipment from the US company which unfortunately had to dump it - With a result it will be producing very few motorcycles, and compared to the massive Triumph factory at Hinkley - is only a small concern, producing (again controversial) overpriced, and with the media magnetic Norton name - overrated bikers aswell. 13K plus for a cafe racer? ? Sorry not really anything against Norton, but give me a Street Triple for less than half the price and I'll be just as happy. Upshot - Yeah - help Norton out by all means, but what about blowing the Triumph trumpet (sic) for British Innovation for a change.
