I know where youre coming from. I have had breaks in riding too. I do suffer with anxiety and I learned you gave to do 1 thing a day to take you just out of your comfort zone. Choose a route your familiar with driving and ride that. Maybe the same route in different ways a few times then find another route. Even if its just half an hour.... just do it. It helped me... Good luck

Being a little nervous after a couple of years off is fine Pangit, it's far better then been too cocky and lobbing the bike into the nearest hedge 😆
You could consider having a refresher lesson but chances are it'll all come back once you start riding, just don't overdo it.
Regarding socialising you've come to the right places. Have a look at the events page, filter to the BM organised events, and come along. There is a mix of hotel based and camping weekends, a few day rides tend to pop up during the year too.
Let us know how the ride goes.

@steve..id live to have a night away with a back pack n then chill with other people but u have 2 dogs and I can't and won't leave them, the most I can do is 4 or 5 hours which in reality rules out most events 😢

Slasher hi. Been out a few times now and all is very much OK.. I fully get it with life's anxieties, u never use to but same old story is if something doesn't happen to me then we are oblivious to stuff.. I'll get there with that bit, but one to one confidence is very low and tbh I can see it changing. I can't do events as I have 2 dogs to look after, maybe a 4 or 5 hour ride is OK but no longer. Thanks so much for you message

I get it with animals, I have a similar problem. During this year I will put some meets on under 'LastMinute.com', these are meets at weekends usually around Lincolnshire or Derbyshire, they will be posted on events so keep a lookout for those

Hi and owdo Pangit. Welcome to BM.
There is a group in Burton Upon Trent, called The Unwanted MC. Cast your lamps over on Google, possibly Facebook too.
They often throughout the year hold events, days, weekends, nights, etc.
I am guessing it wouldn't be to far for you to ride or perhaps, drive with your pets.
Clearly too, have a look on here for BM events amongst many more advertised as already suggested to you.
As Slash and Steve have said to, regarding your nervousness to riding.
Just take your time. You will gain better ability and more control with confidence. Just take your time. At your own pace.
Well done too matey 👍🏍👍🏍

Hi pawl and thanks so much for the message, tbh it took me about an hour to feel that I'd never been off a bike, the first day which was last Monday all I did was look at it!!!! Tuesday I went out n I'm glad I did coz if I didn't I would have moved the bike on. On Friday I did go to Burton, Burton banter it's called, I will check out what you sent me.. I need to get out more and meet people, it's been a tough tough last 3 years and now I'm ready to build personal confidence and move in a different direction. Thanks again for supportive message.. I appreciate it. Mark.

Regarding a tough few years.
Life.
Speak, talk, release it.
Hopefully this will put a smile on ya mush.
Some may say, its rude, it's humour, it is my humour and it's true.

Life is like a willy.
Sometimes it's up.
Sometimes it's down.
But, remember.
It's not hard all the time.

Hopefully you will understand the point ! I read this a while ago and I have 'pinched' it !

Chin up matey. Feel free to message me anytime 👍

Cheers pal and yes been very tough but I am out the other side, no idea how u managed it as it was touch n go in numerous occasions.. Bang on with the humour.. Regarding in the bike I'm fine, confidence elsewhere is shot that's why I'm not searching a partner or even a nosebag with a lady.. Next step really is to meet people, common ground stuff.. I still though wake up at 3 and walk n walk so I'm alone with no diversions like push bikes that never ring the bloody bell as approaching ect. Today n tomoz I will have a late afternoon evening ride, I'm close to Derbyshire dales so that's where I'll head. Thanks so much for you message and the reach out.. I get it and took it on board. Cheers fella.

Pandit you sound like you might be eligible for my "underpants on the head" club for those that have had (or are having) breakdowns, depression, anxiety and other assorted head f**ks.
I'd like to tell you it's a small and exclusive club but it isn't - there are lots of us in various states of disrepair.

I appreciate what you say about the dogs, but for some do's you can bring the dogs (check with the organiser first though). Of course that would mean driving over rather than riding, but that's fine.
